amin
which is the correct color wash to use for a TBM in the atlantic? grey ? burnt umber ?........
dragonfly
Resist the need to get caught up on color....especially for a wash. Just use anything that gives you some subtle contrast to your main camo color. It'll look good. A wash is a wash.
Mike C
Agree with dragonfly. Especially with wash... I normally use Burnt Umber mixed with Black for a wash. For Navy planes, I often mix it up with Burnt Sienna as well for that rusty look.
amin
in this case its a RAF avenger aboard HMS queen and the colors are white fuselage, black"night" cowling,OD and dark sea grey wings over white again.whats your recommendation? i want to wash the rivets and panel lines only. chukw
Use a medium blueish (cool) gray on the white areas- it simulates shadows- and gunk. For the dark areas, use a cool gray that's a bit lighter than your background colors. That will give an effect of dust and salt gathering in the recesses. Good luck - and please post pics! chuk
amin
thats the guidance i needed,i had a feeling it was grey.I'm still far from ready for posting. While on the subject i am thinking of using acrylics and water only by that i mean artist paints.they dont stain and damage and you can correct or remove without leaving any trace..I might flatten before if it doesnt hold.
