Sorta like what Captain America and Hulk are to Avengers. Sorta a new Disney model of franchising. Sign me up!
TonyT
Sounds like dilution of the brand, what made the series a success up to now was the way they were produced, quality not quantity making people wanting the next and that generating the sales that ensured the quality and story line was kept up, one hopes Disney would do the same, but one sees it probably ending up a a TV series style of dubious quality and even poorer storyline. I have visions of us getting the likes of the Black Hole.

I have visions of us getting the likes of the Black Hole. I could see how you would think that and you could be right (Dilution of a brand). But Star Wars is already past that/been there done that. The Prequels, Expanded Universe, and Clone Wars cartoon did dilute the brand. Time for re-boot Disney style and I am optimistic. Again my Avengers-franchise example. Disney STRENGTHENED the brand with Marvel. Truth be told, it may not be your father's Star Wars (I guess I am a father now with kids who like Star Wars) but I don't think it can be worse than the grave Lucas was shoveling the franchise into. TaiidanTomcat
Anything with Mandalorians/Boba Fett is like a license to print money. I think the only thing that could ruin such an awesome icon would be a long back story featuring a whiny teenager.

aerofan
Han solo film...meh boba fett film...hells yeah!!! Count me in. But if it's Jar Jar Binks, mesa head gonna hurt. As long as they keep Johnny depp away from them we should be ok. Disney will find a way of getting him into the Star Wars franchise with a Captain Jack Sparrow like character so they can resurrect the Pirates of the Caribbean merchanising again. Cha-ching!. Johnny Depp is one of the greatest American actors currently working today. During his 21 Jumpstreet days I remembered meeting his costar Dustin Nguyen twice. First time was at the place I was working where he brought in his car and the second was on a film shoot. Really nice down to earth person considering his fame at the time. Mercury
Before you knock it, a young Han Solo would be interesting. His Corillian past, how he met up with Chewie, the whole back story will Jabba...quite a bit to work with for a feature film...

ChernayaAkula
Sounds good to me! There's far more to Star Wars than just Empire vs. rebels or Sith vs. the Republic. Of all the Star Wars books, I think I liked the "Tales of/from..." books best. Lots of short stories, fleshing out the other characters you'd see as extras in the films, but not hear about. I don't think they'd all be feature film material, but a miniseries would be neat.

Bigasshammm
Same deal with the Thrawn series of books. Now those would be awesome to see but it won't happen. Which is why I think they released the statement that there will be spinoff movies but not necessarily hat will coincide with the original movies. That gives them free reign to make their own stories. I don't doubt though that there will be numerous lawsuits from authors and such who feel Disney "borrowed" from their works. It saddens me a lot really. Disney could have done something great and pulled the whole community of authors and fans together but it seems they're going to keep everything (money) in house. madmike
I'd like to see the X-wing series of books made into movies. Especially the Mike Stackpole "Rogue Squadron" ones. Han solo's pre-"A New Hope" life is pretty much chronicled in the original book trilogy by Brian Daley and a later trilogy by Ann C. Crispin. Both trilogies are canon, so it would be interesting to see if Disney go their own way or follow the established books.

Lucas decided long ago that canon didn't count for crap in the Star Wars universe.
