The top color looks perfect!

Thanks, I think it looks awesome as well. Hoping to get some time this week to work on her.

Greetings everyone,
Small update for tonight, I masked off to spray the airbags on the Big Cat. Overkill I know but, at this stage of the game and after all this work I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'll spray these tomorrow along with other small areas this week. Small steps but, progress none the less.
Thanks to everyone who's still keeping a watch on this project.

Great question John,

For the overall priming I used a Anest Iwata "baby series" spray gun. For the bottom color it was Tamiya rattle can. The Dark Ghost Gray, on the forward fuselage sides, was airbrushed with a Paasche VLS using decanted Tamiya rattle can paint.  The top color was applied with the airbrush as will everything else color wise from here on out. Gloss coat and flat coats will be Model Master rattle cans.

Thanks for having a look.

I've got to see this thru to the end, it's the least I can do to help keep the Big Fighter's spirit alive.

My hat's off to you sir!

Today's updates,
Had a very productive week so far on the Big Cat. I was able to get the over-wing fairing air bladders painted, the nozzle shrouds and, the forward fairings for the tails. I still have other smaller items that need painting before I can apply the gloss coat but, pretty happy with the progress so far. At least it's starting to look like something now.
Thanks to everyone who still keeps an eye on the project. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Thanks DIO, very much appreciated.

I'm brush painting all the little details that require paint before the gloss coat. Hoping to have something worth posting soon.

Greetings all,
Happy 4th of July.
Today's update consists of painting all the small details on the Big Cat prior to the gloss coat. I really enjoy this part because, next to the decal stage, this step starts to bring the aircraft to life. Enjoy the pics and thanks very much for looking in.

ECM pin area and the fuel dump painted gloss red.

Painted the air intake "face" to represent an opening in the body.

Painted the gun gas exhaust ports black to simulate the openings.

Painted the ventral fins faces to represent the openings.

Painted the gun bay gas purge system air intake faces to represent the openings. I've since touched them up, they look much better.

At the rear of each ventral strake, there is an opening in the body ( don't know the proper nomenclature for this area ) and, this was painted black as well to simulate the opening.

All the ECM blisters were painted as well.

The ECM blister to the far left was previously removed from the jet and finished separately.

Using my reference photos, I also painted any openings on the belly of the jet black to simulate their openings as well.

And finally, the Chaff / Flare buckets were painted.

Fantabulous!

Awesome dispensers and colors and contrasts. It would be nice with some more rivets though... 🙂

Thanks very much.

Where else should there be rivets ?

Hi Steve,

I don't quite know... perhaps everywhere?! 🙂 There are plenty of "lonely" panel lines, at least on the lower fuselage. The nose section looks nicely riveted. Well, it's just me who sees it that way. I can only imagine how giant is the plane in this scale. And all the rivets/fasteners etc. - i call this riveting.

Looking really good, Steve.

Do I see the embedded  antennae on the ventral fins painted too? :naughty:

Thanks buddy, appreciate that.

Yes you do, good eye.  👍

The red square on the other side of the chaff buckets is where the ECM system safety pin goes. The opening at the end of the ventral fin on the nacelle is the oil cooler exhaust.

Between all my reference material, I've pretty much depicted every visible rivet that should be on the jet.

She measures 42 inches in length and, with the wings swept fully forward, she's roughly 42 inches across.
