mawz
Hasegawa F-4EJ Phantom II 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr Hasegawa F-4EJ Phantom II 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr I'll note I was expected engraved panel lines on the kit, got raised ones instead (on a 2008 release). I'd have though the F-4EJ kit would simply be the F-4E kit with different decals, but it looks like it isn't. Oddly the kit also comes with a set of AIM-4 rails, which I wasn't expecting either (I guess the JASDF had AIM-4 equipped Phantoms at some point?)
arnobiz
Nice project. You have to be very careful with Hasegawa as they release their kits in old (raised) and new (engraved) versions in a random way for many aircraft (e.g. F-14, F-16, F-4) which is quite annoying. The best indication is probably the price: Around £10 it is very likely to be an old mold. No idea why they don't just phase out the old molds... Good luck with the build, Arnaud
SatelliteChaser
Because people like me are broke!! I have this kit in the stash, i'll be watching to see how this goes together. Happy building!
bashace
With that color scheme, I don't think the raised panel lines will be a big issue, everyone will be taken with that bad*** color and markings to even notice. V/r Ron
mawz
Got some white paint on the various bits Hasegawa F-4EJ Phantom II 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr Hasegawa F-4EJ Phantom II 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr Painted the cockpit and stuck the airframe together. Now I'm filling the (fairly major) gaps on the wing/fuselage join. Hasegawa F-4EJ Phantom II 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr

mawz
Thanks, and I'm not surprised you've done this scheme, IMHO it's one of the best of the special schemes. Woke up this morning to this: Hasegawa F-4E Phantom II 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr Today is the last day of a brief leave from work, so I was able to shoot the final clear-cote, semi-gloss in this case as it's a demo bird.
