mawz
This is going to be an 803 Squadron Corsair V off HMCS Magnificent circa 1948. The scheme will be the later Seafire XV scheme (essentially the same as the early Sea Fury Scheme) The kit is the Hobby Boss 'Easy-Kit' F4U-4 in 1/72. I'd considered using their 1/48 'Late' F4U-4 since it already had the correct wingtips for an RCN Corsair (and incorrect for any production F4U-4), but I'm not paying $25 more than the Tamiya F4U-1 goes for. Decals will come from Belcher Bits RCN sheet. HobbyBoss F4U-4 Corsair 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr

mawz
Assembly mostly complete HobbyBoss F4U-4 Corsair 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr I've actually finished with the filler, but haven't taken a picture of that yet. Next step is to get the headrest & gunsight on, then deal with the canopy. Unusually for an Easy-build kit the canopy is rather nice and both closed and open options are offered. I'll be doing the closed option to hide the overly simple cockpit.

mawz
Finally got around to painting this bird, I'd been scrambling to finish up another GB Build as well as polish off some builds I had languishing (I alsways seem to have 10 different builds under way at any given time). I shot the scheme bass-ackwards, shooting the Dark Grey first to make masking simpler: HobbyBoss F4U-4 Corsair 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr And then masked and shot the Light Grey. Once I peeled it, I noticed I needed a little touch up to the Dark Grey around the cockpit, so a bit of masking and then it was ready for glosscote: HobbyBoss F4U-4 Corsair 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr I've since put the legs on and glosscoted. Decals going on after dinner, I'll be skipping the stencils (saving them for a non-WhIf), but all major markings will be in use.

ChernayaAkula
Nice! This is one that will make people pause and wonder whether they've skipped a few pages in history books on the Corsair. It just looks so "right"!
