Joe Hegedus
Anyone out there have, or know where to find, info on how the air wing of the Essex class and Independence class carriers would be spotted on deck prior to a major strike launch? I'm looking at building an CVL in 1944 and Bunker Hill during 1945 and need info on how the deck would be spotted.
Tracy White
I have a partial spotting for Franklin in March of 1945 posted here in this damage report. This was after the first strike of the morning was launched and the second strike was being readied. The aircraft warming up in the hangar deck are shown on this plate. I haven't found any manuals or instructions for deck spotting yet.
