FAR148
What would happen to the missile if it did not go overboard? Would it be repaired if fixable? destroyed?.....
A6BSTARM
What would happen to the missile if it did not go overboard? Would it be repaired if fixable? destroyed?..... It would have been dumped over the side by the ordnance crew no matter what. Think of it like a firework that you lighted the fuse on and it failed to go boom. You wouldn't return it to the shop you bought it from to get your money back. Same thing with some of these missiles that aren't secured properly to the pylons, the arming wires get pulled when those missiles come off the racks if they aren't properly de armed. So what you have is live ordnance skirting down the deck. This was an issue for the F-18A's for a while until the wingtip pylons could be fixed to withstand the stresses applied for a carrier landing.

Spongebob
Did it catch the 3 wire? Looks like a 1 or maybe a 2 based on where it is.
