AJ37 Viggen "Attackviggen"

Recommended Posts

There, finally finished!

A two year endeavour with some dry spells in between :P But I managed to get it done before the Tarangus Viggens arrive!

A bunch of people have been very nice to me and cheered me on with this build so I´d like to thank the people who made this possibleQ

Thanx to Mike Reeves and Max Nyqvist for making the all the aftermarket stuff available and for allowing me to spend some money on them :P

Mike, if you´re still interested you can use the pics on your site :D

Juan, you Viggen freak you! Well you kept me on the straight and narrow and thanx for making the RAT!

Björn Ericsson, thanx for nailing down the colors, Henrik Bergren for all the input and letting me close to the real thing ...I might have put it in my pocket and run off with it :P

And a big thanx to you all who followed the build and cheered me on, it meant a lot when this was feeling like a never ending story!

Well then about the build....intriguing but I WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN!!!! :P

I´ve spent a small firtune on this build and it´s easily the most expensive model I´ve ever put together! Heck even putty´s got it´s own expense post!

A quick resumé of what I´ve put into the build:

From Two MIkes:

Foreplanes

Pylons

Corrected belly insert

air inlets

Maestro models:

Exhaust

Cokpit PE

Air brake PE

White metal undercarriage

wheels

pitot tube from the Draken set

Vacu formed canopy

2x bomb set m/69 with launcher m/71

FAnfront

Wheel wells

Pisco:

Corrected nose

Neomega:

Cockpit

Flying colors:

JA decal sheet

Swedish roundels

Euco Decals:

Numbers

Two Bobs:

parts of the Viggen sheet

And then we can add all the detailing I´ve put in myself.....sheesh.

Well and the putty :P

Time for some pics, eh? ...I did take a few :P

It's an outstanding work for an outstanding aircraft!!!. You work will serve me as inspiration (meaning: I'll steal ideas from you!, lol) because I have two of this kits on my stash and one is foully rescribed!.

Again, congrats and thanks for sharing.

That's really nice, :woot.gif: I hate to think of the amount of masking tape you used not to mention the time on just the painting alone.

Anybody who attempts Swedish splinter schemes goes up in my eyes. :worship:

Oh man - that is something else! I will never question your weathering again!

You inspired me to want to build one now, but after a look for one on evil-bay, I am not sure I can afford to buy that kit - unless Airfix or someone decide to re-pop it one day.

That splinter scheme is just awesome and well executed

And your photography is really something else.

thanks for sharing this Janne!

Best regards

MH

Great build of a very nice plane!

Just wondering (no pun intented at all): did they ever fly with this amout of bombs?

Thanx Santtu :D

Oh yeah, very very often. Tho not until the AJS mod could the carry Sidewinders on the outer most wing pylons.

I would have wanted to put counter meassure pods on the outer most pylons....chaff and flare on one pylon and a ECM pod on the other

Lovely job Aigore! Turned out just right :-)

Thanx Nimrod :D

Thanx MH :D

The thing is to think many stages ahead....what you saw at the beginning was stage one of maybe 10 different weathering stages, the end result isn´t really to be seen until i´t´s all finished and everything melts togheter in a whole. Some times the desired effect doesn´t show until the very last flat coat :D

Wow awesome build! Great work!

Thanx Webby :D

Stunning Jan, just really, really nice!

Cheers,
