imatt88
Hey all, Taking my first plunge into pre WWII aircraft. Been building jets for years, but always wanted to buld something with (gasp) rigging  Just picked up Monogram's Grumman F-3F and Hasegawa's F4B-4 in 32nd scale. Built the F3-F when I was a kid and it was a war crime :P Now I want to do it right. I don't know much about these types of aircraft, so I was wondering what color the US Navy and USAAC painted their cockpit interiors. Was it pretty much the same as their WWII descendents, or something else? Thanks, :) Cheers, Ian
Aaronw
For the most part aircraft cockpits between the wars used silver dope on fabric and silver paint on metal / wood. Interior greens and such seem to start turning up around 1940. The Soviets seem to be an exception using dark grey in the 30s. I mostly build 1/72 but I've been thinking about picking up those two kits. I hope you will post your progress when you get started. I made a mess of the Hasegawa F4B-4 when I was probably 6 or 7 and would like to give it a try again.
imatt88
Most of the references I've seen, say light gray insides with silver ribbing.. works for me :)

Similarly the F3F would be the same as its exterior (when the Navy returned to 'silver' for metal surfaces), aluminium lacquer.
