Van Buren Boys
Greetings! Here is another example of Trumpeter's Su-30MKK kit in 1/72 scale. I painted and marked mine as a Su-30M2: http://www.knaapo.ru/rus/gallery/events/combat/su-30m2/index.wbp I used Dream Model's pitot tube and corrected vertical tails (I would have used their corrected intake blow-in slats too, but had already assembled the intakes by the time I knew of its existence). I also used various decals from Begemot and the Kh-59s, Kh-31s, and associated pylons were from ICM. Finally the figures were from JFVicente. Thanx a lot Juan!!! For the camo I used the following mixes of Testors: Light Blue: equal parts white and Flanker Medium Blue Gray: equal parts white and Flanker Medium Blue, and Topside Gray Dark Blue: 2 parts white, 2 parts Topside Gray, 1 part Flanker Medium Blue, and 1 part Bright Blue Now for the pics: Happy to answer any questions. Ryan Hothersall
Nice. You can make quite a few different Flankers out of the basic trumpeter kit.
nicholassagan
Beautiful!!! I have the Dreammodel fins and ICM missiles, too. How'd they work up for you?
Van Buren Boys
Beautiful!!! I have the Dreammodel fins and ICM missiles, too. How'd they work up for you? The ICM missiles are great. The Dream Model tails require some trial and error sanding to fit flush with the fuselage and horizontal stabs.

Van Buren Boys
SAHHH WHEEEEET!!! do you have a WIP link? I don't have one for my build, but Ken's WIP thread is excellent: http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=263052 For mine, instead of constructing the shoulders for the canards from plastic card and filler, I cut out the shoulders from a Zvezda Su-37, cut out the corresponding panels from the MKK and mashed them together:

Wrong layout I know, but no one will see once I close up the canopy anyway. Thanx for the heads-up on the 02 to 54. By the time I finish up I may have even more choices... Flankerman
I created the decals myself in PowerPoint and PaintShop Pro Excellent ! :worship:/> Those chaff/flare dispensers are really useful - it's a pity that Trumpeter only include them in their J-11B release and not the other Flankers in the range. I tried to persuade Begemot to do a sheet of such things - plus different Flanker cockpit decals and blow-in doors etc - but I guess there is a very limited market. Such things as the yellow-with-black-surround and plain black 'slime lights' would also be useful..... :pray:/> Ho hum...... Ken PS - Love the pilots arm patches Edited May 21, 2013 by Flankerman
