dean
Hi Guys, Here's My next build, I'm building for a work mate alongside my Huey. It's gone together really well so far with no major issues. About the only real gap so far is where the intakes join the bottom of the fuselage but it's nothing a bit of filler wont fix. Box and sprue pics: Cockpit going together: Pilot from the spares box:
dean
Fuselage halves together: Flaps fitted and vertical and horizontal stabilizers dry fitted: It's ready for filling and sanding so hopefully I'll get some primer on tomorrow. Thanks for looking Dean

dean
Thanks Nicholas, Yeah, I'm building it inflight so haven't had to spend time working on any of the wheel well or bomb bay details at all. Filled, sanded, primed and pre-shaded today. It's pretty much ready for paint. I just have to find a conversion chart for Tamyia paints so I know what colours to use. scapilot
Where do you order bases from?
dean
I just got one from trademe.co.nz. It's sort of a New Zealand version of ebay. The one I brought is just a small wooden trophy base. Something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WOODEN-DISPLAY-STAND-20-5cm-x-9cm-Base-DARK-HARD-Wood-Bonsai-Plinth-/310684752801?pt=UK_Collectables_Ornaments_RL&hash=item4856411ba1
dean
I made a lot of progress today, spent a good couple of hours masking for all the colours. It came out pretty good in the end. I've just given it a couple of gloss coats so it'll be ready for decals and a wash after my day shifts.
scapilot
Man, that thing came together fast. Only thing that I have a question on, is that I think the light gray around the outer edges ends on the leading edge of the wings. I'm not sure that it extends to the LEX regions of the Raptor. I could be wrong, but I don't recall having seen it like this before. Take a look here, and you'll see what I mean. the leading edges should be fine, but the horizontal stripes you got may need a quick touch up. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1e/F-22_Raptor_edit1_(cropped).jpg Still coming along really nice. Four Corners
Decals are next?
dean
Scapilot you're dead right, I just followed the paint and decal guide which I now know is obviously wrong. It's all finished now though. I ran in to a big problem with the grey I used. It was almost exactly the same colour as the majority of the decals so they were almost invisible. It's on it's stand and ready to hand over to the new owner. Hopefully he'll be happy with it. It's up in the display case now: http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=265626 Thanks for following Dean
