falcon20driver
I don't know if anyone has tried this yet or not but I realized an easy way to mask jet engine exhaust before painting. Just stick an ear plug in and go! The plug conforms to the size of the exhaust. I'm also planning on attempting exhaust covers (plugs) using ear plugs as well. I think it'll work but I need to see how the paint application goes, or I need to find red ones. I hope I'm not bringing up something said a million times before. Fly-n-hi
Seems like a good idea. I've got a whole bunch of these from work. Might not work on the larger scales, though. Edited August 10, 2013 by Fly-n-hi
falcon20driver
Seems like a good idea. I've got a whole bunch of these from work. Might not work on the larger scales, though. This is a 1/48 Skyhawk. I don't know if it would work on 1/32, I've never built in that scale?
Fly-n-hi
Probably wouldn't work, even on some of the 1/48 kits. They definitely would be too small for the 1/48 F-16s, F-14s and F-15s just to name a few. And they look to be just a hair too small for F/A-18s. Don't get me wrong...I still think this is a good idea.
toadwbg
For larger diameters, take an over-sized pipe (brass tube, other) and "die cut" into a sheet of foam. Find some suitable scrap foam from packaging that you would normally throw away. Must be a spongy foam. An oversized pipe is usually fine as the spongy foam will compress a lot. The problem with those ear protection buds from work is the ear wax on them :P
SatelliteChaser
Should work for some 1/72 jets... Will definitely try this myself. Thanks for sharing!
