phantom
Saw this yesterday in Port Burwell Ontario. X-HMCS Ojibwa hull number 72.
Litvyak
Putting it there, they may as well have put it on display in Saskatoon. What does Port Burwell have to do with HMCS Ojibwa or submarines in general?
phantom
Danged if I know, if it was not for the provincial park next door I would not have known anything about this. They have big plans for a nice looking museum in the future.
parche
Awesome, Oberons are sweet boats. Got to tour the one (HMAS Ovens) at the Maritime Museum in Fremantle, Australia a few years back. I should try to get to the one up there now. Thanks for posting. Cheers, Dave
phantom
I knew the inside was cramped, but always thought the Captains quarters would have been bigger. I could not even fit in the room forget about the rack. I'm not fat, but 6 foot 4" types are NOT meant to work subs.
Colin K
Putting it there, they may as well have put it on display in Saskatoon. HEY! I would have loved that!!
Brad-M
Gents, HMCS OJIBWA was transfered from the RCN to the Elgin Military Museum as part of their collection. She was then moved to Port Burwell because a Naval History Museum is being planned to be built there, and OJIBWA will be the main attraction. I think it's a super idea, and I applaud those for thinking of this, instead of cutting her up for scrap. Cheers Brad
