So what you're saying is all they have to do is add a update spruce and they would be in competition?

Wait, the kit is going to be made out of spruce?? I'm not very good at wood carving :)

I'd risk my life to share you one...The pic was shot by cell, so please ignore the poor quality...

Darn, molds for a late C model, after 88.... has the pressure reducing valves mod for the Aileron actuator (2 bumps on the panel forward of the aileron)

And as always the speedbrake appears to be in a well, not flat on the fuselage like the real aircraft.

Appears the aircraft they used had a cracked rib #171 on the wing as there is a beef up that will not appear on all aircraft unless this was a mod after I retired in 2001.

So those lumps shouldn't be there on an A or a B??

Easy fix: glue it shut like you see it on 99.999989828749% of parked F-15s :)

IIRC the TCTO happened about 1988, first active duty operational C models then ADC only then AFRES/ ANG.

Instalation of the pressure reducing valve to prevent spikes in hydraulic pressure slamming the aileron. So to answer your question, A/B models were later but all got the Mod.

With the speedbrake retracted how are we suppose to show off our speedbrake art?

I just wish they would save the engines and radar for a "premium version" so that the rest of us don't have to pay extra for a bunch of plastic that will simply be chucked into the garbage.

Quite honestly, many people complain about minor, easily fixed details on the exterior yet we all seem to be ok with getting a very basic representation of a jet engine which, I would guess, probably has dozens of major inaccuracies / simplified details. How many modelers will actually build the kit with the radome off and the engines visible? 1-2%? Let them pay the extra $ instead of all of us.

Anyway, aside from that rant, this kit looks to be quite nice. GWH seems to be setting the standard for 1/48th jets. Hope it's successful for them.

I'd love to see what they could do with an F-106 or Yak-28 (my two coldwar favs)!

Interesting. The AMRAAM is obviously an A-B model with the big control surfaces and (it's hard to tell from the photo) looks to be a CATM with the blunter nose.

This is probably Japanese AAM-4, not AIM-120.

That's what I said in old MiG-29 thread and everyone's attitude was that extra stuff never hurts... Well, kit came out with anemic fuel tanks, rather sparsely detailed main gear wells, when compared to the rest of the kit, and no air inlet ducts, but it had two nice tubes which are now buried in the landfill somewhere South of Fresno.

Which one? The 3 or 4?

Mark

Mostly the 4. That tail just screams at me. The 3 doesn't seem 100% either. Would need a better look at it. I do like that the area behind the canopy is seperate. Would like to see them do a version w/ the R2D2 looking SatCom antenna. Inclusion of the Israeli recce pod would be nice too.

Love to see the DJ!! Any clue about the decoration?? This one is going to be a goldmine for the decal manufacturers!!

What hasn't been done already? There have been very decent 1/48 F-15 kits for 35+ years. This kit will be an evolutionary step, not a revolution.

Hello Jennings. I was thinking about the japanese DJs, some manufacturers have released several products, like Hasegawa with the limited edition kits, Two Bobs, Platz and DXM with their decals but they disappear as soon as they hit the market, especially, the japanese one. However, these manufacturers have only scratched the surface of the wide variety of colorful schemes painted on the DJs, either on anniversaries or ain aggressor tasks, and many are truly eyecatching!!

The evolution starts with a revolution!!

Regards,

I.Martin

Looks like purely C/J/D/DJ, no A/B parts visible...

I could be wrong, not a F-15 specialist here, but isn't the IP on the left an MSIP one, and the one on the right, a pre-MSIP (F-15A) one?

Just a few things.

The Doors on the forward Engine bay panel there should only be one serviceing door, 2 are depicted and are in the wrong orientation. they should be a rectangle with short end toward the leading edge of the panel.

Comm panel under the left intake is a C/D model, (A Models are shorter sand further aft) but the one under the right intaker should be eliminated.

Instrument panels are for a Pre MISIP and one for the a MISIPed A/B/C/D model.

On the side of the underside fuselage, near Panel 15 (ECS/Avionics bay access on the underside, lovered panel)should only have one avionics cooling air supply door and it should be on the left side same as the Comm Oanel.

As with the Hasegawa and Academy kits there should be no Ring around the AOA probe, this is infact a dirt ring left by the cover's rubber boot.

LRU-6 access panel should only be there Post MISIP, and only on 1984 tails and after as for the LRU-6 installation required a complete overhall to be done in that area.

No big deal but noticable to me so i guess you could say my 2 cents.

Cheers

Dave

Chaff and Flare Mods were not installed until 1983 -84 timeframe on C models as well, we use to have to put Chaff packs under the speedbrake and remind the pilot on launch not to cycle the speedboard or you would have allot of FOD on the Ramp.......
