kurnass77
Good days all guys, I'm here with some news. The model is virtually finished;the painting phase is now out and I can start the final assembly. Anyway I've to complete some details, both to paint and scratch ( canopy lock hook, nav light,etc...). But now the pics:I choose a medium gray panel wash in order to help the detail to pop up but no too hard, only specific panels received a more dark wash like in the engine area to rapresent the weathering visible in the pics in my possession. [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] All the small parts. [/img] Not happy with my strike camera's first attempt,I rebuild the windows with a clear piece of plastic cut from a nails's box in order to work diractely on a part with the desired ,final shape. The pics show thw camera in company of the already scratch NLG frontal door ( the carpet monster...) [/img] Instead of scratch the area where the canopy lock,I've hand Painted it,hoping that with a little trompe l'oeil effect I can jump another tedious scratch session ( tedious because my skill are still limited) . The result,I can live with it after all. [/img] The scratched M-61 part after paint . [/img] [/img] That's all for now, like Always thanks for look and let me know your opinions, Cheers, Gianni P.S. #1 Greywolf,NavyPhantoms thanks for you words ;Navy I agreed with you about the decals,I love all the stencils! Aigore
Wow, it's coming together really nicely! Keeo up the good work Gianni :D
kurnass77
Thanks all my friends! Rodney,me too! Arnaud,I'm honored of your words and to help you, remember to choose with great attention your subject and as I said previously, the Sky Decals sheet is great but offer only the Hebrew staencils and this reduced (...) your choice, you cannot build a YKW plane for example. Contact me at any moment! Aigore, many thanks ,the same for your Kfirs ( to be honest I've slightly forget your multibuild, sorry!) . Cheers,Gianni.
arnobiz
Thanks Gianni. Only suggestion I would have: For the gun grill you might have been better off printing a simple pattern decal yourself than painting them (similar to what Fightertown decals did for the F-14B/D gun vent). Arnaud
kurnass77
Thanks Arnaud, but the gun drill are molded and the result showed is the effect from the panel wash. Anyway, tip recorded! Cheers, Gianni.
Aigore
Aigore, many thanks ,the same for your Kfirs ( to be honest I've slightly forget your multibuild, sorry!) . Cheers,Gianni. LOL, No worries :D They are presently on hold anyways :P
JMan
Very nice phantom, can't wait to see final product!
kurnass77
Thanks JMan! I've lost some sleep for the gun vent as said by arnobiz ( it is right, the original don't like me...),I've filled and sanded the original and resprayed the camo color. Instead of the Gunze,I bought the Lifecolor UA-041 Gloss Aircraft grey ( only slightly more dark of the Gunze H-314 ) lightned with some drop of UA-021.This help me to find an alternative to the Gunze range 'cause in Rome pratically all the hobbyshop cease to import the Japanese brand (!)... To replicate the grill I've used some drytranfer applied on a Tauromodel transparent decals sheet and applied like any other decals;the result is more clean now! Some pics ASAP. Cheers, Gianni
arnobiz
Sorry you lost your sleep over this Gianni, but can't wait to see the result :) Arnaud
kurnass77
Good day all. Arnaud,I don't lost really sleep, but after your comment ( and this is the reason of post my build here) and some ponderation,I choose to replace the original gas vent. As previous said,'cause my limitation to make custom decals,I adopted the dry transfer/transparent film sheet solution, and this is the result. [/img] And the model sitting on his legs! [/img] [/img] That's all for now, more news as soon is possible, Bye, Gianni
nicholassagan
Oooo!!! So close!!!!!
CorsairMan
I'm loving this build. It reminds me of my fav plane in Janes IAF - the f-4 bombtruck! I don't do modern stuff but I am really getting inspired with this build. Can't wait too see the finish.
arnobiz
Fantastic result Gianni, I hope you don't regret the extra work :) How did you mask your model? I am in awe seeing such a brilliant camo job. Arnaud
kurnass77
Thanks for your words Arnaud,I don't have any regrets ,a couple of extra works's hours are welcomed if the model aspect is improved! About the camo,as Always,I've used some sausage of Uhutac/Patafix to create the boundaries of the various colors, this help to obtain a scaled down soft transition between the colors. I assure you that is more simple to practice, especially fo skilled modeller like you! Gianni
Ruud
Knights of the Orange Tail! Great build K77!

Ok,the model is 99% doneI've only glue the canopy and the engines, but I want improve the result on the latter. In the meantime I've armed the beast,as CorsairMan said,my goal was an bombtruck Phantom for my collection! [/img] [/img] [/img] The canopys. [/img] And some shot of the almost complete model. [/img] [/img] [/img] Probably next time I'm able to show you the finished build,so stay tuned and thanks for watching! Gianni.

SERNAK
Merry christmas Gianni. I think you have done a remarkable job, especially the blending between the colors-decals that gives a balanced result. What's your next project?
kurnass77
Thanks a lot guys!!! Sernak,I'm pretty undecided at the moment: first I'll finish my NMF Shahak started in my multibuild ( check here in the progress forum),and after this mmmmhhh...probably I start one of my long endurance project like the Revell Mystere IV or Airfix Super Mystere/Sa'ar. ST0RM
Gianni, that is simply an amazing build. That would grace any museum's display. Jeff
