DACO super detailing set for STARFIGHTERS in 1/48

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys

Just returned back home from a very successful show at Telford.

I arrived on Friday with 100 full sets and 100 of the additional Wing and Fueltank sprues, and I'm returning with half of the Wings sprue, around 75 of Fuel tanks and only 3 full sets remained! Around 85% of the full sets were already gone on Saturday, but I'm happy I didn't have to let no-one down: everyone interested in the set got its copy.

As these 100 sets are a pre-production run, especially done & Fedex-ed to me for this show, it will still take several months before the normal boxes will arrive for delivery to the shops like Hannants.

I received more "pre-requests" last week than I can fulfill with these three remaining sets, so I need to find a way which is ok for everyone. Any suggestions? Ebay?

Anyway, I can supply everyone already with the sprues of the wings and the fuel tanks, so it's only for those who 'won't be able to wait until the full set is completely available' :-)

I'll update my website soon, that's urgently due for new images...

Tough call, Danny.

Here's what I think might be fair (my opinion only):

For the wing sprues and fuel tank sprues, if you have enough for those (like I) who asked for individual sprues, then it's fair to sell them to each of the people that asked. Nobody goes away unhappy.

For the complete sets, you have more demand than supply. Only 2 possible approaches I see:

-first come first served (according to timing of the PM on ARC or e-mail), or

-eBay as you suggest.

My advice would be to go with eBay for the full sets that are remaining; that way those who are really serious about wanting the full set immediately can bid to get one.

I would still love to have the 3 wing sprues I asked you about in my e-mail, but for the full set I can wait until you have enough stock in several months.

Yes Daco makes great stuff. Hope more of it makes it over here in the new world. I recently had someone pick me iup the F-104 full set @ Telford and it is awesome...really makes the Hasegawa kit real nice!

Love to see Daco do one for the Hasegawa A-4's

There were a couple in Italeri's "Marineflieger" boxing of their 1/72nd Tornado. You'd have to scratchbuild the elongated wing pylons, though - these differ from the standard hardpoints.

Additionally, for an early Marineflieger bird you could rob some AS.30's from Airfix's Canberra B(I).8.

Lastly, for a nice variation, late in their life some were equipped witch chaff / flare launchers on their aft fuselage - net pic #1, net pic #2.

HTH,

Andre

Thanks for the great photos and info. I dont have either of those kits. I prefer to get the missiles in a trade or a weapons set?!?! It is a waste since I wont be building those kits in 1/72 I have 1/144 kits of both those airframes.

Perhaps somebody has a few Kormorans lying about they can trade for?

A few more external stores: nuclear bomb, napalm canister, Orpheus pod and targeting dart

mind you will get 2 Bravo and 2 Lima Sidewinders but just one of the biggest missiles: 1 Sparrow, 1 Aspide, 1 Kormoran and 1 AS4. While it is possible to build and Italian CI (interceptor) with 1 Bravo and 1 Sparrow or 1 Lima and 1 Aspide, for a MARINE F-104G armed with anti-surface missiles you will need to buy 2 sets

ONE of each missile? Seriously? Thats just cruel. Oh, I have these great boots I am selling. They are kind of expensive, and you only get one boot... :bandhead2:

I just got my DACO F-104 detail set. I have not had a chance to use it yet, but it looks really good. You can buy individual sprues if you order directly from DACO. I ordered an extra Kormoran missile, so I have a pair of them.
