Introducing Speed Hunter Graphics!!

Recommended Posts

OK, I think I have my ducks lined up now to formally announce what I've been planning. With the depressing closure of Afterburner Decals a while back, there's been a void of decals coming our way. Geoff at Furball has done a tremendous job of picking up much of the slack, but I think there remains a significant hole that Afterburner filled.

With that in mind, I am launching Speed Hunter Graphics, which is as spin-off from Reid Air Publications. Speed Hunter's job? Decals!!!!! Most subjects will be somewhat modern, or at least since post-Vietnam.

Sheet #1 is aimed at the new Academy F-4C, and includes markings for 5 MiG killer C/D-model Phantoms in 1/48, plus 1 in 1/32.

1) F-4D 66-7554, 906TFG SEA wraparound camo "City of Fairborn" nose art 1983

2) F-4D 66-7550, 507TFG Hill II camo 1989

3) F-4C 63-7676, 154CW, Hawaii ANG, SEA wraparound camo, 1984

4) F-4C 63-0589, 191FIG, Michigan ANG, ADC gray, 1979

776 and 550 are both provided for in 1/32.

I have 2 ROK F-4D kits ready to go as soon as you release !

It should be ANY day now. I'm just waiting to hear from Cartograf with news that they are shipping.

Any plans for some Michigan Air Guard colors printed in 1/32?

Gary, that will be tough because their markings take up so much space. I really tried to scale the ADC Gray version of 776 up into 1/32, but couldn't fit it onto the sheet because of the insignia. Trying to get the checkers on the Michigan jet onto a sheet will be even more challenging. It wouldn't leave much room for anything else.

That is what I thought. I have a CE set, and the checker and arrows make up most of the sheet. Still interested if it ever happens as these were beautiful birds to see. I was a kid growing up in Michigan in the 70's, these jets used to train at the Grayling bombing range that was 50 miles from Houghton Lake where we spent our summers. They would stage over the lake to make their bombing runs and were a real site to behold….and spotlessly clean! That checker scheme really stood out on a clear sunny day.
