jmel
OK, I think I have my ducks lined up now to formally announce what I've been planning. With the depressing closure of Afterburner Decals a while back, there's been a void of decals coming our way. Geoff at Furball has done a tremendous job of picking up much of the slack, but I think there remains a significant hole that Afterburner filled. With that in mind, I am launching Speed Hunter Graphics, which is as spin-off from Reid Air Publications. Speed Hunter's job? Decals!!!!! Most subjects will be somewhat modern, or at least since post-Vietnam. Sheet #1 is aimed at the new Academy F-4C, and includes markings for 5 MiG killer C/D-model Phantoms in 1/48, plus 1 in 1/32. 1) F-4D 66-7554, 906TFG SEA wraparound camo "City of Fairborn" nose art 1983 2) F-4D 66-7550, 507TFG Hill II camo 1989 3) F-4C 63-7676, 154CW, Hawaii ANG, SEA wraparound camo, 1984 4) F-4C 63-0589, 191FIG, Michigan ANG, ADC gray, 1979 5) F-4C 64-0776, 142FIG, Oregon ANG, Hill II camo 1989 6) F-4C 64-0829, 482TFW, SEA wraparound, 1982 776 and 550 are both provided for in 1/32. Sheet #2 has markings for 7 more MiG killer Phantoms in 1/48, along with 1 option in 1/32. 1) F-4D 66-7554, 906TFG, 1985 "City of Fairborn" nose art, Euro 1 camo 2) F-4D 65-0608, 148FIG, Minnesota ANG, 1989 Hill Gray camo 3) F-4C 64-0660, 107FIG, New York ANG, 1985 ADC gray 4) F-4C 63-7704, 159TFG, Louisiana ANG, 1983 "Coonass Militia" special camo 5) F-4C 64-0776, 142FIG, Oregon ANG, 1984 ADC gray 6) F-4C 64-0748, 188TFG, Arkansas ANG, 1989 Don Spering nose art, Hill gray 7) F-4C 63-0623, 181TFG, Indiana ANG, 1983 SEA wraparound An insert sheet contains walkways and other black markings Edited October 9, 2013 by jmel

ghatherly
Any plans for some Michigan Air Guard colors printed in 1/32? Edited November 11, 2013 by ghatherly
jmel
Any plans for some Michigan Air Guard colors printed in 1/32? Gary, that will be tough because their markings take up so much space. I really tried to scale the ADC Gray version of 776 up into 1/32, but couldn't fit it onto the sheet because of the insignia. Trying to get the checkers on the Michigan jet onto a sheet will be even more challenging. It wouldn't leave much room for anything else. Jake
Viperguy
How about the New Jersey ANG F4D's. They always get left out. You could do them in SEA, Wrap Around or EURO I.

I have a CE set, and the checker and arrows make up most of the sheet. Still interested if it ever happens as these were beautiful birds to see. I was a kid growing up in Michigan in the 70's, these jets used to train at the Grayling bombing range that was 50 miles from Houghton Lake where we spent our summers. They would stage over the lake to make their bombing runs and were a real site to behold….and spotlessly clean! That checker scheme really stood out on a clear sunny day. Johnopfor
Hey Jake, any chance of these sheets in 1/72 scale?
jmel
I won't rule 1/72 out, but it will be a little while before I'll venture that road. I don't even own any 1/72 kits to scale the artwork. Jake
