Spectre711
I guess Great War GB it is. French bayonet charge Algerian dragoons IndianArmy 2nd Rajput Light Infantry Belgian machinegunner Russian infantry
Aaronw
Still a bit shy of yes votes. I would have thought this would generate more interest. While most think of the trench warfare of the Western front, there was a lot of action going on in Russia, Italy, Turkey and even Africa. Some really interesting naval battles in Africa as well as a daring Zeppelin flight of 4200 miles in an attempt to re-supply the German forces in East Africa.
Spectre711
I think this would be an excellent 6 month window for a ship builder to get into an ARC GB. I'm not sure of what the future lineups are for the GBs but July could be a great starting point.
Sebastijan
While the Western front is the most known and famous, hard battles were fought on the Slovenian territory which was later pushed into Italy on the Soca (Isonzo) front. Here's a photo I took last year at one of many WW1 graveyards And a few photos of probably one of the most beautiful locations in Europe, where soldiers fought a bloody battle during WW1. A path up to one of the mountains near Krn, made during WW1 - imagine they had to bring all the heavy equippment up here - all year around While a mountain paradise today, this actually was location of battles with traces of war still evident all around. spejic
While the Western front is the most known and famous, hard battles were fought on the Slovenian territory which was later pushed into Italy on the Soca (Isonzo) front. Rommel fought there. He described it in his book Infantry Attacks. I strongly recommend it if you have trouble sleeping, but it does detail the unique style of fighting in these mountains and valleys.

phantom
Think its a great idea, but so few of us build this era. You are going to have to advertise the crap out of this to keep the interest up.

Spectre711
I'm mostly a cold war guy but that's when I grew up. It seems the Great War GB would be a cool thing to do but if it isn't meant to be then be so. Knights of the Sky Group Build only ended up with 10 completed builds. WymanV
I don't know if I'd sweat the numbers just yet. The closer the anniversary gets the more interest will generate. Ken

lawman56
I already had plans to build at least two models or dioramas a year, starting in June of 2014 and ending in November of 2018, to commemorate the centennial. A group build would just help me keep that fire kindled under my butt.

Spectre711
I just picked up 2 Fokker D.VIIs and had 2 Royal Aircraft Factory SE.5as stashed away so if this GB takes off I'm good to go.

vince14
Has the GB been approved? Because I'm ready for it... Vince
Spectre711
With 17 yes and 4 procrastinators we are still short of 25 even if the 4 changed there votes to yes. Edited March 8, 2014 by Spectre711
kiowafixer
Does voting yes require participation? Would love to see this happen, but OT at work lately has been killing me and I might not be able to pull off a build right now. KiowaFixer
vince14
I think we need 25 'Yes' votes just to get the GB approved, so at this stage a 'Yes' would be most welcome! In any case, the GB probably wouldn't start until July at the earliest. Vince
kiowafixer
Ok then, vote cast. Unfortunately July may be the timeframe our aircraft start vanishing, so it may be even worse for OT then. KiowaFixer Edited March 13, 2014 by kiowafixer
