Jake Kilshaw
Hello, I am new to this forum, and I should probably introduce myself. I am 14 years old, and live in Warwick, England. Here is my entry to the group build. It is Fujimi's Ferrari 126C2 Long Beach GP. This was the car where Ferrari sported a 'double' offset rear wing, in an attempt to increase downforce on the street circuit. This wing later resulted in Villeneuve being disqualified from the final standings. My previous experience with Fujimi kits has been truly awful. The only other Fujimi kit I ever built was the Ferrari F2007, around a year ago, and I never finished it, in fact I sold the started kit to a friend at a model show this weekend! I have started this build tonight, and so far, I am slightly disapointed with it. The pre-assembly that I have done on the bodywork shows that the fit of the parts in this model is very ambiguous, and I am hoping that it improves as I dive deeper into the model! The box-top and body parts: And to prove the time: The floor-pan has a lot of ejector pin marks on it, more than I've seen on one part ever! This looks to be an interesting build. I'll keep you updated. Jake
Bigasshammm
Interesting. Nice job at Telford too btw!
dmthamade
Great!! I was wondering if anyone would do a Ferrari. I've seen this kit and other Fujimi kits and been wondering how they are. Will follow to see how you find the build. Don
Jake Kilshaw
Thanks. I have done a test fit on the main parts. I think I'll follow some advice from the post on F1M, and only paint the bodywork when I've completed the chassis, so I know of any modifications I need to make on the body part to allow it to fit onto the chassis. Here is the test fit so far: Thanks, Jake
Jake Kilshaw
Hello, After a couple of weeks with no progress due to frustration because of the Alclad not working, I have finally done some work on the Ferrari. So, what are my thoughts on the kit? I think that this model is one of the worst I've built (OK, I haven't built many...). So far, I haven't used a single part that has fit without modification, and the way that some of the parts align is very vague. I will build this model with the body panel glued on, but I have had to remove the air filters from the engine in order that I might be able to attach it to the chassis and for the bodywork to fit over the engine. And a test fit with the currently unpainted body panel: There is a massive gap of around 4mm when the body goes on. I guess I'll have to glue it down, which will put a lot of pressure onto the plastic. The reason I wanted to build this model is purely just for these 5 parts, and the weird way in which they attach: Jake
dmthamade
Great progress so far, Jake. I've heard the Fujimi kits were a little work intensive. Don
Jake Kilshaw
Hello, I have finally solved the paint problems I've been having (sort of). I had no trouble painting darker Alclad colours, but as soon as I tried to spray an Aluminium or Stainless Steel, I had problems that were different every time. Sometimes it didn't cover, other times it bubbled or crazed. I have decided not to mess around with these colours any more on this model, because the Fujimi plastic obviously doesn't mix well with these paints. Yesterday, I bought some Citadel (war-gaming) paints from Games Workshop, as I have heard that their metallic colours can work well.... and they do! They are water-based acrylics, that are almost like a gel in thickness, and therefore requires a lot of thinning for airbrush painting, but the metallic flakes are extremely fine, and so the colour on the front and rear wings looks good, or at least it does in my opinion! I painted the side panels in Vallejo Sand with a small amount of Citadel gold to make the colour metallic. I have painted the body parts in TS-8 Italian Red, which is still drying, so I'll try to post some pictures of it when I get chance in the week. Anyway, enough of me talking, here are some pictures: Jake Edited December 1, 2013 by Jake Kilshaw
dmthamade
Yup!! Those Citadel paints are outstanding!! The metallics are really fine grained as you found out. I use them on some of my NMF builds. Great progress. Don
Jake Kilshaw
Hello, Here is the newest update on the 126C2. Thanks, Jake
Bigasshammm
Shiny So you decided to not glue the body on?
Jake Kilshaw
Shiny So you decided to not glue the body on? Thanks! No, I did glue the body on. It just required a lot of pressure to get it to stick. This build has been a bit of a disaster, so I'll probably enter the GB again with my next model. Bigasshammm
Eh it still looks good. And to answer your question on PS3 Gt6 is missing a lot of the cooler features of 5. You can't view your friends anymore and see their progress. Nor can you see what room they are in online or anything. The graphics are better but the driving seems easier. Cars turn in a lot more than they did in 5. I've noticed I can brake super late and still hit the turn. AI is still not good and he other cars are just moving roadblocks. There's supposed to be major updates every month so it's more Sony made them release the game but it wasn't completely done yet.
Jake Kilshaw
Thanks Bigasshammm! I can't wait to get the game now, but I have to wait until christmas! Why does December have to be so long! :) Anyway, This evening I have done the rest of the decals. All decals are now on the car. The next jobs are: tyre decals, attach wheels to car, seatbelts, seat to car, rear wing to car. And then it will be done! Thanks, Jake
Jake Kilshaw
Hello, Here is my latest model, Fujimi's Ferrari 126C2. It is Gilles' Long Beach '82 car, which features the strange 'double' rear wing which later got him disqualified from the final standings. I used Tamiya seatbelts, and paint was Tamiya, Citadel, Vallejo and Alclad. The kit is awful, and the majority of the parts do not fit. I also had problems with painting it, as Fujimi seem to use a strange plastic that reacted badly with a lot of different paints. Thanks, Jake
Bigasshammm
I like it very much. Such an odd but fast looking car. I'm still not a huge Ferrari fan but I like how this one turned out. Build another!

Build another! Thanks. I'm not a Ferrari fan either, but I just wanted to build this because of the rear wing! I've started the Ebbro Lotus 72E, and I'll enter that as well.
