Clumber
Howdies all, Our awesome nephew is 5½ and we would like to help get him started in the hobby as part of our holiday gifts for him this year. He is on the entirely opposite end of the continent, so we only very rarely get to see him in person. We know he loves the Disney "Cars" so we're thinking about getting him his favorite Cars characters, plus a plane, in the newish Zveda kits. Has anyone had a kid build these yet? Or have you opened the boxes and checked them out? Are they a good choice or would they drive him from the hobby screaming? If they aren't a good choice (maybe just age-wise) do you have any other suggestions? We have been easing him in since he was about 2 with various toys like a 4x4 that you use a drill sort of thingie to change tires, swap parts with other vehicles, etc. and word is that he loves those. MANY MANY thanks in advance! Tracy & Jeni, trying to be the COOLEST AUNTS ever.
dbec
I bought these for my son when he was around 8. He needed a little help, but he enjoyed them. They're pretty sturdy too so he can play with them after. http://www.revell.com/model-kits/snaptite/aircraft.html He has the A-10, F-15, and F-16. The link has PDF instructions also. xavi84
Here is a review I found using google. The seem to be pretty cool little kits and with a little help from an awesome aunt such as yourself I'm sure your nephew will love it! http://carsthetoys.yuku.com/topic/20724/ZVEZDA-Disney-Planes#.UoPhupETFuY Here's a video I found on youtube as well. Hope this helps -Xavi
