falcon1974
Since Hobby Boss came out with the YF-23, would there be any slight chance in hell that someone would be willing to do a 1/48 X-32? I always thought that it was a better looking airframe than the X/F-35 even though it has a mug only a mother could love. Never have cared for the Lockheed offering. ThudDriver
aaarrrggghhh ! Even Momma didn't love it ! What a waste of aluminum and composites ! God that was an ugly turd. Maybe a 1/144th scale kit would suffice.......... Then we could hide it underneath other kits in the back of our display cases !! Frank C.
KursadA
Glen (of Kitty Hawk) has mentioned their desire to do a 1/48 X-32 a while ago; and he was looking for reference material. So you can be sure that it is at least on the radar screen of a company that can deliver it.

Granted, the leadership of that place will likely tell anyone with any kind of interest in making anyone care about aviation to go screw themselves.. But that's where it is. habu2
The National Museum of the USAF has the prototype in their restoration hangars. There were two X-32 prototypes, the other one is at the museum outside the gates of NAS Pax River MD.

It's what I call a starter kit, slightly better than building one from scratch.
Gary F
I'll buy a couple. Saw a large model (maybe 6 feet long) at a military function before they were built and found the shape pretty interesting ... still do.
Jinxter13
Egad..that bird even gave ugly a bad rap....but it did fly and I have to like it for that reason alone. It somewhat looked like a whale shark with mouth open feeding on plankton :o :D . Edited December 2, 2013 by #1 Greywolf
James
I may be one of only a few people to ever to say this... but I preferred the X-32 to the X-35. The X-35 was just soo.. meh. Edited December 2, 2013 by James

ThePhantomTwo
It would be cool to see a 1/48 X-32 release, would like to see something along the lines of what the F-32 would have looked like as well.

Av8fan
ThePhantomTwo, I could not remember the complete NOVA program, but I seem to remember that the team wanted to make changes, but there was no time. Am I remembering this correctly? Edit the intake reminds me of the mouth of a Basking shark Edited December 2, 2013 by Av8fan
ThePhantomTwo
IIRC,if Boeing won,the tail planes would have been added and the wing changed as well.I haven't seen the NOVA episode in ages,I believe I have a copy somewhere in my DVD collection.
Rob de Bie
+1 It made me smile :)/>/> Another +1! I'm slowly working on an accurate 1/72 model, starting with a 1/72 diecast to replace the badly-shaped Italeri model. Just look at the shape differences! Since this thread is likely to attract all X-32 fans, is there anyone out there who knows more about the vortex flaps on the leading edge? I find it amazing that I cannot find anything about this very special design feature. I really want to show these forward opening 'spoilers' on my model. Rob
pookie
I have yet to see a picture showing the vortex flaps on the leading edge. I have a bunch of pictures in all sorts of configurations and I don't see anything special about the leading edges.
X-Plane Fan
All ya gotta do is ask.... Hope that helps. Tony
pookie
That's why. All my pictures are of the X32B, that's the one I like :)/> The X32A had longer wings, I wonder if those features were exclussive to the A model. I have also seen different intake configurations with and without the scoop. It seems making a kit of this plane is going to take a very particular time frame with a specific configuration for that time period. Aigore
I actually prefer the delta wing config over the main wing- horizontal stab config..... then again I'm European :P
