scapilot
Built this for a guy who was on the America with the airwing back in 93. Hated use some artistic license to backdate the scheme using kit and Fightertown decals. May not be 100 percent accurate, but he's cool with it.
Parabat
Wow, a really manky looking Tomcat! Nice work with the Academy kit, the burners look great, what paints did you use? I'll bet he'll love it.

Arne
A Question: Are this Markings correct for an F-14A of the VF-102 ? ... i think these are Markings for the B-Version from the Middle of the 90's and the last Years of the Tomcat in the VF-102. For an A-Version it must be the old Logo on the Tail like on the Phantoms of the VF-102.. http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-squadron-vf102.htm Excuse my bad English ! Most probably, as the original poster said that he used the recent Fightertown decals and some artistic license to 'backdate' the appearance to a '93 F-14A. But you get the Hawk Eye award for noticing !
scapilot
Most probably, as the original poster said that he used the recent Fightertown decals and some artistic license to 'backdate' the appearance to a '93 F-14A. But you get the Hawk Eye award for noticing ! That's correct. He wanted the recent look of the Diamondbacks, but was around them when they were still flying the A models. So yes, before I started any work, I let him know that it wouldn't be an exact replica of what he was wanting, but he was fine with what I offered, and as long as they pay me, I'll paint a Christmas tree down the spine of that puppy. :)
Ironworks
Nice looking Tomcat, great weathering! One thing I never liked about the Academy Tomcat was the front windshield never looked right.
Joel_W
Excellent looking build. Your weathering really is outstanding, as the F-14A really looks like weather and salt air has taken its toll on the paint. Joel
NavyPhantoms
The paint looks excellent on that.
