1/72 Airfix DH Vampire Rhodesian AF

Recommended Posts

Hi, as some other people here I am building a Rhodesian AF DH Vampire T Mk 11. Mine is to be camouflaged and I am going to use the Xtracolor decal sheet X72-174. I have chosen A/C 2400 of No.2 Squadron in 1968 with the red/white/blue roundels.

Yesterday I built the cockpit :

This morning after some coats of matt varnish I closed the cockpit :

This afternoon I glued all the main components :

Fast build!!!

Are you planning for matt or satin finish?

Actually I do not know as on the decal sheet it is not specified matt or satin and I do not have the Air Enthusiast magazine No119. Maybe something not too matt will be the solution.

At the moment I am perfecting the joints.

G'day!

You can paint it semi-gloss,but real birds after some flights and some hot days and cold nights, will probably turned to a matt finish

Cant wait to see your finished Vampire in this camo,as Ive build a Hunter with this colors too.

A little progress today with the sanding process, the dark panels are due to some recesses above the flpas :

and later I painted the underside in High Speed Silver for which I used Xtracolor X216 RLM01 :
