parche
Wow, Looks totally awesome. Great work and fast. What were your impressions of the kit? Cheers, Dave
Flankerman
It was an easy build - two halves of hull, same with sail (plus a top deck) - then rudders and diving planes plus sonar dome. The etched-brass decking is a great idea - much better detail than they could have done with the plastic - although I had to use filler to hide the step between deck and hull - no big deal though. Some of the etched-brass was too small for my old eyes - mooring cleats on the decking, whip aerial mounts etc - so they were left off. I had to add a 'deck' inside the sail - otherwise you sould see straight through the opening.... A couple more WIP photos....... All in all a nice little kit - I hope Micro-Mir are encouraged to do more - I'd personally like to see some WWII British subs. parche
Excellent Ken, thank you for the comments and extra pics. The kit intrigued me because of the photoetch deck. Maybe I will take a flier on it instead of the Blue Ridge Models resin kit. I would love to see some Brit boats as well. I am pretty surprised that we haven't seen any yet. They had excellent stories to go with some of them from WWII. Cheers, Dave
