Qantas aircraft name fonts

Recommended Posts

MH,

For the aircraft names, the 737s and 767s use "Helvetica Normal". The A330s and A380s use "Frutiger LT 55 Roman", of which an italic version is used for the "Spirit of Australia" titles on all aircraft.

The registrations use "RAF_PW_ATH" and the aircraft type (in front of door 3 on the A330) is "Airbus Special".

The now newer "QANTAS" titling is a customised font which you can trace from logos on google images.

Scott.

Actually the "font" (which isn't what it is) used for the registration letters on Airbus products isn't the same as the post-war RAF/RN style lettering. Here's an example (both were done from their respective standard documents):

QANTAS doesn't necessarily follow that convention. See here:

One or two letters are modified from the standard character set, but it is the one I use for the QANTAS & Jetstar decals I design for Hawkeye Models Australia.
