redgriffins38
Ok so I am working on a Do 335 with the 30 mm MK 103 cannons in the wings. So here is where I am having problems. I would like to build this kit as if it participated in a "what-if" 1946 offensive on the Eastern Front. My thought were, what if Russia was being provided the B-29 to use against German targets. I would think the Germans would have used the Do 335 to defend against the formations of B-29. So my question is what Luftwaffe squadrons would have most likely flown the heavily armed Do 335? ThudDriver
I like your theme. Given that it's all a "what if" project: pick whatever squadron you want or make your own. "Creativity". Thuddriver
Slartibartfast
Hartman's group, JG-52, for one. Edited January 30, 2014 by Slartibartfast
THUD4444
If you are interested, both planes are in the flight sim IL-2 1946. And the Do 335 is a very effective interceptor against Tu-2 Bulls. I actually prefer it over the Me 262. I know its just a game but it would have been possible.
schonert
I feel a ZG marking also ok
billw
I built my Do335B-2 back around 1979 or so, and marked it for JG300 with the boars head insignia with the blue/white/blue RVD bands. But your talking Eastern Front so JG52 or maybe JG54 are possibilities. Really though it's a what-if, so it could be any unit that strikes your fancy. BW
HistnScale
You could also go with one of the KG(J) units, bomber units converting to fighters. One of the checker board tail bands would look good. Cheers, Dave
FCM
Far as I know, the DO-335 only flew as prototype and was not mass produced nor engaged in any squadron, all actual photos of that appears the plane with only the radio codes. If you like fictional aircraft, you can build your model with any squad that you want (Luft46)... ;) Edited January 31, 2014 by FCM
The Loggie
As it is a 'what-if' pick ANY Luftwaffe fighter Unit. The Green Hearts, for example. George, out............
