'32nd scale RNoAF CF-104 , Canadian Zipper turned Viking

Recommended Posts

in the early 70's the Norwegian government found a need for more F-104's. Having a number of F-104G in service from 1963, a decition was made to order a new batch.

The Canadian airforce had some in storage and these where purchased by Norway. The 22 jets was at the time in storage in Scotland and after some upgrades was made they where flown to Norway where they entered service with 334th sqd at Bodo AB in 1973-74. The CF-104 was retired in 1983 when replaced by F-16 A/B's

This jet will be nr "755"/CF-104 , Canadair Construction Number 683A-1055/Serial 12755, It was in Canadian service from 1962-71,and came to Norway on 25 april 1974.

The build itself will be Italeri 1/32 scale kit with Leading Edge RWR's and Vingtor decals. I'm on the lookout for a resin C2 seat but have yet to find one. I'm comfertable using the kit seat also in case i dont find a replacement.

I've got some work done the last cupple of days. Mixing the color for this jet took me many hours ,but I think I've got it..

Today I've prepared the glareshield, the RNoAF CF-104's had some extra boxes and stuff on the glareshield. I've scratchbuilt these using small bits of plastic, a piece of a coctailstick and some copperwire.

Now it's time for a coat of flat varnish, then the canopyparts , windscreen, sand down any spots I've missed and then for the fun part.. start painting this sucker..

Nice build! I have always loved RoNAF starfighters so will definitely be following! Is it going to be a NMF or green?

Jakob

Thanks dude :)

This is gonna be a green CF-104 (tail 755). 334th sqd, ca 1980.

I finished a F-104G jan 1st same kit, same scale just different markings. (NMF color)

Nice work so far. Are you planning to do some weathering?

Naturally alittle weathering, but very subtile on this one.

Some more work done, gloss coated the jet, and painted the C2 seat, it still needs a wash and some highlight but I did't wanna do that at 04:20 AM last night
