Italeri announces a 1/72 CL-415 and a HC-130J (USCG)

Some interesting news, especially for me, who is focusing on 1/72 kits.

While the Coast Guard HC-130J seems to be released already (at least that´s what the catalog says, haven´t seen it yet) and is most likely the well-known Herky-kit we know for years, I wonder where this CL-415 is coming from.

HAJO

The HC-130J is out, seen it on a couple of sites...

As for the CL-415, I would love it to be a new mould, but that would've been announced with more fanfare, especially at Nürnberg, so I'm guessing it's the Heller example...

Thanks for the tip guys! I love the C-130J USCG. Will probably take the plunge as soon as I find one at a more sane price. I mean...$60.00 for the old Italeri design?? Psscchhe...you gotta be kiddin me. But I'll probably do it once I see more here in Atlanta...and a little lower price.

Better decals and relatively better availability for it, then...

Would've liked more/different decal options, but those are market-conditioned...

Knowing Italeri, the decals will be wrong, and so will the paint callouts. I've been burned a few too many times with their lackadaisical attitude towards non-Italian subjects in terms of markings, even ones that are as well documented as a CL-415.

I really wish Italeri would fix the 130 kit so you can accurately model an H or a J. The sponsons are all for a later production version and the nacelles are too short for an H and wrong of a J. The cockpit needs to be completely revamped for the J.

For the $$$ there asking for that kit, it's dire need of an update or a completely new mold.

If it is the Heller kit, then it is actually a CL-215T, not a correct 415.

Would be nice if they did it in Newfoundland's Peas and Carrots scheme, there was an aftermarket decal maker offering this scheme but they are long out of print.
