pkrasna
My contribution to this group bulid will be Academy P-51B Mustang of the 8th Air Force 352nd FG named Blue nose Bastards of Bodney. I will recreate the aircraft that was flown by Lt. Robert H. Powell Jr. in standard Nature Metal with Medium Blue nose and full D-Day markings. For this build Eagle Strike decal set IP7208 will be used. Primož
falcon20driver
Welcome to the build! I love the mustang and the blue nosers are some of my favorite. I'll be excited to see your build progress.
pkrasna
So let's start with this project. Interior is almost finished. Academy did a great job with cockpit so only seatbelts were needed. Primož
pkrasna
Cockpit is glued in place and fuselage haves are joined together. I painted the wheel wells and done baisic weathering. Primož

Spectre711
How is this one coming along? I have one of these Academy kits and I'm thinking of building it soon. Hows the fit in this kit?
pkrasna
The fit of the kit is eccelent! The only mistake I noticed are too shalow whell bays. And that's that. Edited March 6, 2014 by pkrasna
AX 365
Coming along nicely. Interesting that the fuselage is in four parts.
stevehnz
Coming along nicely. Interesting that the fuselage is in four parts. Different Academy P-51B/C kits come with different tail feathers hence the kit breakdown. Primož, that looks like a sharp job you're making of this, keep up the good work, I'll be keen to see this completed. Steve.
pkrasna
The colors are on. For base color I used Alclad II Aluminium. Primož
Tomcat Fan
Nice one.. NMF looks great..
falcon20driver
Absolutely my favorite Mustang color scheme of the war, and you have more than done it justice. Wonderful!
Don
Beautiful! I love that scheme on the Mustang. Question: did you mask off and paint the invasion stripes and blue nose after you sprayed the NMF? If so, how did you protect the NMF from being damaged by the masking material? Well done! Cheers! Don.
pkrasna
Thank you for you kind words. Don first color to apply was the Alclad II Aluminium color. It was sprayed over Valleyo acrilic primer which was polished. After aplying NMF another round of polishing was done. And after that cam invasion marks and blue nose. I have never had any problems with Alclad in peeling off or damaging the surface by masking. So far I used acrilic and enamel primer with alclad and also sprayed the stuff directly to plastic. And then masking on the NMF surface. And so far everything was OK. The only thing thats important is to spray it on glossy or finely grinded surface.

AX 365
Coming along very nicely. The invasion stripes are very well done. It's nice to see a "B" with the stripes. It's mostly "D" models we see with the stripes. Mike

pkrasna
First round of weathering is done. My favorite black grey acrilic powder was used. Primož

tobiK
Well done!! One of my favorite Mustangs! When I see your P-51 I just can hear the Merlin roaring!! Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......
stevehnz
Now that is very very nice. It even manages to make a NMF Mustang look not too like a NMF Mustang which I think has to be a good thing. :) Steve.
falcon20driver
Absolutely beautiful! Great weathering on a sharp looking natural metal finish.
