T.Moore1521
Does anybody know where I could get some shuttle tile decals from. I have 2 Revell LC-29 Launch Complex Towers coming very soon and I'm about to place an order for the Revell Shuttle Discovery but it will be turned into Atlantis on her final mission as well as the final Space Shuttle mission. And help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Tyler
spaceman
Hi Tyler, here in the ARC there are some decal specialists such as hotdog, crowe-t and other guys that can certainly help you. You mean certainly the reissue of the LC-39 Revell Launch Tower Kit 4911, right? BTW, in this kit a shuttle stack is included, so you do not need to order an extra orbiter. I've seen your MLP so far and you take modeling to a whole new universe. I've also seen crowe-t's STS-133 build and it inspired me to enhance the MLP as he did but I also want to enhance the FSS and RSS with some staircases without having to buy LVM's detailing kits as they would cost me a fortune especially for all 5 detail sets for 2 LC-39 kits. Thanks, -Tyler Edited March 10, 2014 by T.Moore1521
spaceman
You are right Tyler, the LVM Detail Kits are on the one hand very expensive, but on the other hand also very nice. But there is also another way one can go, therefore here is a link to a thread in the German Raumcon Forum. He is building his pad in the STS-135 mission and has covered the elevator shaft and mounted the stairs made of plastic parts, and it looks great. The stairs and railings are available to purchase as finished parts and are relatively inexpensive. Edited March 10, 2014 by spaceman

Crowe-t used the N size on his MLP so I'm thinking that that'll be the correct-ish size to add to the FSS/RSS. I sent him a message on here so I'm just waiting for a reply. Thanks, -Tyler
spaceman
Yep, these are stairs and stair rails of Plastruct for N scale 1:200, I also have used for my MLP.
T.Moore1521
Thank you spaceman. I just ordered 5 sets of stairs and 5 sets of handrails along with the Space Shuttle stack.
spaceman
Then let's see action! Do you already know what are planning to start with the Tower, the MLP or the Shuttle stack?
Hotdog
I vote tower since there's so many MLP's currently in progress!
T.Moore1521
I'm awaiting the orders to ship right now. I won the shuttle tower on ebay this past Saturday so it should be en by the end of this week or the beginning of next week. These builds will probably take A LOT of time because I work the night shifts and I sleep most of the day; so most of my work will be on the weekends and when I have time off like when my first child is born and I have 2 weeks off (July). I'll most likely start with the tower since I need to gather up some reference pics for the final shuttle mission. I'm really excited to get these towers since I've been wanting them for what seems like forever. -Tyler Edited March 10, 2014 by T.Moore1521
John G.
Oh, that's so cute; he thinks he's going to have free time once his child is born. :D In all seriousness, I am looking forward to seeing how your build progresses. Good luck, and congratulations!
T.Moore1521
Hahaha. My fiancee is only 22 weeks so we still have a ways to go; so I'll be able to get a lot done on the tower since I'll most likely be doing that one first. I know I won't have as much but as soon as she goes to sleep, it'll be modeling galore lol. Thanks John G. I'm looking forward to this massive project along with welcoming my daughter into the world as well as modeling(I'll introduce her to it when she's about 5 or 6). T.Moore1521
Good news guys. The kit that I won off of ebay along with my shuttle stack just came in this evening. Pics will be posted as soon as possible(most likely tomorrow evening). I've never seen so much moulded plastic before. -Tyler
spaceman
Hi Tyler, Yep, I can understand your amazement, the Revell Launch Tower kit is really a HUGE BOX! Have fun building, I am curious and stay tuned.
T.Moore1521
The kit I had bid on was just the tower and I ordered the shuttle from TowerHobbies. What I thought was awesome was that one of the kits came with the TSM so now I don't have to build them when I do the MLP. With all this plastic I think I'm going to need a new table. My little computer desk just won't work with this build. -Tyler
spaceman
Then let us see your tower grow on your new table.
T.Moore1521
As soon as I get home I'll be picking up my airliners and piecing out the tower and shuttle stack kits. I'm so anxious. I've seen someone drill out tiny holes in the SRB's where it bolts to the MLP and insert some brass rod to keep it upright. I'm wondering if o should do that or not. Does anyone know of any other methods? -Tyler
2qwik4u
My uncle is the one that was responsible for getting me into modeling as a kid, and I remember the year that he got the original issue of that kit for Christmas. Normally he is a really fast builder and I remember him working on it for months. I remember the box being absolutely massive, and the finished product is quite impressive too. Can't wait to see yours finished too! -Dave

The kit was already opened so the box was a little smaller than the Revell Space shuttle. I opened the box last night to see all of the pieces and I mocked up the orbiter on side of the tower and I can tell that this is going to be a great build. This forum and the amazing modelers on it inspired me to do this build. I thank everyone on this site for the help and ideas. I cant wait to see everyone's builds along with this build. -Tyler

spaceman
As far as I know these brass rods through the ET have only fixed the SRBs, but not the stack on the SRB hold down posts.
T.Moore1521
I dont think i explained it right lol. I was going to add brass rods where the SRB nozzles attach to the MLP to give it extra strength when it's standing upright on the MLP. What is the best tool to cut the thick plastic on the tower floors so I can add the staircases?
spaceman
I would take a mini saw, or a Dremel with a mini circular saw
