A fact that I'm very much aware of, as I don't see as many as I once did, when I'm at the VA Hosp. Always the thought where would we be without them?. Someone had to step up and they did.

Godspeed Gentleman.

The greatest generation is fading into the sands of time.

Sadly it'll be all too soon we will have no more living WW2 veterans left....and the world will be a lesser place because of it.

Over the last 25 years I've gotten to know many veterans mainly 8th AF B-24 guys who have returned to the UK and lay a few ghosts to rest. Sadly most are now gone but it was a privilege to spend time with them.

All I can say is if you know a military veteran thank them before its too late. WW2/Korea even Vietnam Vets are being lost everyday....we must remember them

Not to hijack or otherwise poach on your post but I would like to add my grandfather

John Stanley Recznik

TBF crewmember in WWII, worked the Atlantic

and

Garland Smith

USS Franklin crewmember.

Both heroes and wonderful men, My grandfather Garland passed away in the 80's but my Grandfather Recznik is still alive.

I just wanted them mentioned in this pantheon on heroes

Thank you, from a grateful American and proud grandson.
