1:72 Scale Zvezda Su-25TM (Su-39) Frogfoot Russia

Recommended Posts

The Zvezda Su-39 kit built in the markings of an aircraft in the modern day Russian Air Force. Although the box says Su-39, but the aircraft is really the Su-25TM and I think the Su-39 was used for marketing purposes at the various European airshows.

Getting back to the kit, I found it went together good, but I had bit of a disaster with the canopy, while painting the framing, the paint ran and I used white spirit to get the paint off, which it did, but fogged part of the canopy.

I did not have a spare one so left it as is, if I tried to do any more to it I would have probably made it worse.

Decals are from the Linden Hill Lipetsk Top Guns sheet. They went on with no problems, but with them being two part decals, I am always worried about the bottom part moving when I put the top part on. I usually get around that by spraying a coat of gloss over each part so they are sealed before the next part of the decal is put on.

I have a Su-25ub which I'm in the process of converting into a Su-39.

I've been working off & on this kit for about 5 years, with several trips to the shelf of doom. When I started this kit, there wasn't a "dedicated kit" of the Su-39.

So slow progress but almost there.
