Deke
RES-IM just released a conversion set for the ES-3A in 1/72 http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/RESIM7217 I have it, and while it repeats some of the mistakes of the white metal included in the Hasegawa special boxings, it is a complete set and a much better way to build an ES-3A. Hoops, What are those mistakes? Deke
Hoops
The two that jump out at me: 1. The canoe fairing on the top of the fuselage is not tall enough, I'm guessing another .5mm or so would improve it significantly. 2. The bucket on the top of the canoe and under the fuselage are essentially cylinders, while the real domes were more tapered. See this excellent build here: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=275554 But compare the height of the resin canoe and the taper with this photo: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/98/ES-3A_DN-ST-92-09811.JPEG Or any of the side views in this thread: http://www.fencecheck.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1328&p=319643 Add a bit of strip styrene between the canoe and the fuselage and a few minutes with the sanding stick on both the top and the bottom dome will improve things greatly. I saw a review of the set somewhere that compared the Hasegawa white metal with the RES-IM resin, and some of the parts are very similar. Thats probably why the same mistakes are there... 2qwik4u
Just got my Hunters and Gatherers sheet today. Looks sweet! If anyone needs reference photos of the Global Hawk, I've got the pictures of the actual one from the sheet here. -Dave
