Really looking forward to your final set of pictures. The entire painting and weathering process has been a excellent learning tutorial.

Thank you :worship:/> :thumbsup:/> .

Would like to know more about your shading. Freehand? Masks? How?

galfa

Post shading, no mask, freehand.

I have photos of the application of light and shadow when I painted the Neutral Gray.

All references are from Tamiya paints.

I applied Neutral Grey XF-54 Tamiya.

Then make the mixture for the lights.

XF-54 (1) + XF-2 (0.5) thinner X-20A (4).

Paint the interiors of the panels.

Then make the mixture into the shadows.

XF-54 (1) + XF-1 (one or two drops, no more) thinner X-20A (4).

Paint the lines of panels.

Apply again the two mixtures, starting with the lightest color.

On the fuselage apply lines, as thin as possible, vertically.

In the wings apply them in the direction of flight.

I hope you understand because my English is not very good :crying:/> .

I apologize for the late reply but only now visited the forum :blush:/>.

Ajcmac, I really like your post shading method for the panel lines. I use about the same method as I find it more realistic then pre-shading, and much more controlable. Joel

What is the matt finish you used?

Very nice work! What method do you use for your paint chipping? It's very realistic looking.cheers,Mike

Ajcmac,

please describe how you faded the OD green.

thanks

Andy

First I want to thank everyone for following and commenting :worship:/> .

Andy

As the Ichitoe said the procedure was identical when I applied Neutral Gray. The only difference is that in the green, for lights, mix yellow not white in the same proportions.

The photos were missing, sorry :blush:/> , the finished model.

Ajcmac,

Simply an outstanding build of a P-47D Razorback. Since the 1970's I've seen dozens and dozens of Jugs in all major scales, and I honestly have to say that your build is the equal of the very best of them. It's that's good.

Being a Long Islander since we moved here back in 1957, I've been a fan of Both Grumman's and Republic. Seeing a Jug of this caliber is a special treat for me. Thanks so much for sharing your build with us.

Joel
