Kingoalie
Hey Everyone, Here's my first entry into the group build. It's the 1/72nd Hasegawa MU-2S that I'll be doing in a 3-tone gray scheme. I found a Koku-Fan magazine that had a couple interior pictures. I'm trying to re-create the stuff that's inside the main cabin. Here's the real plane I plan to model: Cheers, John Edited July 12, 2014 by John King
spejic
The interior work looks great. Keep posting images of this work - it could serve as a reference to others.
swbailey
John- Very cool. Without the references, I decided not to do the interior, but what you are doing is fantastic! It's great to see all that detail on the inside. It's interesting to note too, that your version was molded in yellow orange, while mine which is to finish up in yellow orange was molded in white. cr7driver
cool subject matter. I love the MU-2.
Kingoalie
Thanks folks. Does anyone have any pictures of the rear cabin? I'm assuming there are two seats, one on each side behind the observation windows?
swbailey
John- You are correct. Somewhere recently (too late to help my build) I saw a photo of the aft cabin and it had two forward facing seats for the observers to view out the bubble windows.
Kingoalie
Here's my interpretation of how the interior might look. Nothing fancy, as much of it won't be seen once the fuselage is together. John Edited August 24, 2014 by John King
Hajo L.
That´s really looking nice and busy! Will follow that WIP! HAJO
Kingoalie
Fuselage is all buttoned up and clear parts are on. A little filling sanding will be required to fully blend in the front canopy w/the fuselage. You can't see all the details in the cabin, but that's why I didn't spend a ton of time super detailing it. Until next time. John
White Wolf
The fit looks good!
Kingoalie
The fit is pretty good. I'll need a little filler under the nose and along the vertical stabilizer-fuselage area, but I don't consider that too bad.
Kingoalie
Well, I don't think I'll get this kit done by the deadline. I have all the greys painted but still need to paint the de-icing boots and then decal/weather it. I'll post a picture of it a little later.
Kingoalie
Here's where the model stands right now. I may be able to get the black parts painted sometime today. John
spejic
It looks good. Keep working on it and keep posting here. I always thought this was a larger aircraft, but judging by the size of the toothpicks in your clever painting rig the MU-2S is pretty tiny. And checking on Wikipedia, it's actually a meter shorter than the T-4.
Kingoalie
Yeah it is really small for a twin engine commuter plane. I just picked up the 1/144th Platz MU-2 kits, talk about small!
Kingoalie
At the GB deadline here's where I stand. I have my MU-2 ready for decals. I'll keep working on it even though I've missed the GB deadline. Happy New Year, John
White Wolf
Keep at it, John!
Kingoalie
Decals on! I hope to have this finished by the end of the week.
ForestFan
Looks great, I have one of these to build so I am keen to see how it ends. Keep it up please! FF
Kingoalie
I didn't get as much progress on it this past week as I'd hoped. I did get it gloss coated again, ready for a little weathering.
White Wolf
The MU-2 looks surprisingly good in gray, who'd have thought?
Kingoalie
Well, slow progress now, but the landing gear is on. I think I'll add a wash to the wheels to tone down the aluminum color. More to follow.
White Wolf
Looking great!
Kingoalie
Finally got this one done. Bummed I didn't make the GB deadline, but glad I stuck with it and finished it. Cheers, John
