jacksdad
I haven't posted on here for some time so I thought I would share what I am working on at the moment. Its the new Revell kit which I love. As such this is the second WIP at the moment, I have another 2 one the shelf and another to come. Anyhoo here are a few pictures to quickly show the build. . . As I am building a GR.4, which has a bigger heat exchanger inlet (similar to the ECR) I used the fin correction designed for the Italeri kit which has this. . Attaching the RAF style pylons. . . A quick view of the resin wheels I am using instead of the kit ones which a wee bit square. . The load, including 2250ltr fuel tanks from an Airfix kit and a pair of resin Storm Shadow. . Construction nearing completion. . Decals being applied. . The real aircraft. And no I am not doing all the crew. .
rom
Nice Work! I hope Revell will release an English version. I WANT my Desert Storm Tornado!! :D Bye
jacksdad
All you need is one of these. . And a set of RAF pylons with the MACE fittings that you can see in this picture. . Everything else is in the box, apart from the larger fuel tanks if you wanted to have them. Also the kit heat exchanger inlet is the right size for a GR.
spike7451
GR4 has a square TAB display for the pilot & not the round wet film moving map display. PS,where did you get the shoulder pylons from? Edited August 6, 2014 by spike7451
Stephen
Are you using Paragon stuff? Nice work so far. Stephen Edited August 6, 2014 by Stephen
jacksdad
I realise that, for the main IP Merv, but I don't think that would be a big deal for most folk. The pylons are copies that I have.
jacksdad
These are the other 48th Tornado's I am working on. Hobby Boss F.3 Revell IDS
chek
I'm not sure if it's the parts breakdown, but all the Revell Tornado builds I've seen seem to have some sort of step or kink on the upper surface of the intake, when it should have a smooth curve as below. I'm wondering if separating the intake's upper segment from the spine piece would cure it, or cause other problems down the line.
jacksdad
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the issue you are talking about. Where exactly is this step/kink you are referring to?
chek
The angles the photos are taken at isn't that close, but hopefully shows what I mean The intake with the curved top replaced the 'stepped' version seen on the prototypes, and the few Revell builds I've seen so far seem to be somewhere in between the two styles, while being neither. tomcat21
You're right I can see that in my Tornado walkaround video at 00:
jacksdad
I have looked at my kit and it does seem as if the top is indeed flat when it should gently slope down at the front. However, in my opinion, this does not detract from it being a great kit. And I will certainly be buyimg loads more in the future.
rom
Hello! Thank you jacksdad for the precisions! Cheers Romain
jacksdad
A wee bit more done. Just some more decals and the canopy painted. The yellow stripes on the Storm Shadow are from the kit decals. I took two of the black/red/yellow stripes and cut off a thin yellow stripe with a metal rule and a sharp blade. The shortness of the muzzle flash panel is solved by painting a little further forward.
