If we can get a silhouette of a Starfighter in one "hand" and a Fishbed in the other, it would be complete.

Here are my previous Starfighters. All, except the 'Toothbrush' scheme, were for ARC group builds. I have a few options on what to do for this GB. Not sure what direction I'll head but it will definitely be another Hasegawa CF-104, although it will not be a Tiger Meet scheme. I just have to finish my Hornet's Nest GB build first. The first three are in 1/48; Hasegawa, Revellogram and Hasegawa and the last is the 1/32 Revellogram Mount Olympus offering.

This was the Revell/Germany 1/48 "Tiger Meet" boxing that I originally planned to build for our local IPMS-Doha Annual Tiger Meet. Once I saw that 3 others also got the same kit I decided to go a different route and bash it into an Italian F-104S. The old kit with raised panel lines was far from a shake and bake kit, but I finished it anyways.

Hey All,

This group build is right up my alley.

Here's a couple of previous builds I've posted here on ARC.

First is a Hasegawa 1/48 NF-104 with the Cutting Edge airframe conversion, cockpit and decals.

mjd4cv.jpg

dV0j4a.jpg

Next is a CF-104 that I completed for the Missile With a Man In It Group Build.

I'm just going through my stash to see what options I have before posting what I'm going to build.

Cheers,

John

Beautiful Starfighters! What's amazing, is the Japanese F-104's get overlooked as a build choice, you see very few as a whole. I don't know if it's true, but someone once told me that the F-104 design was originally a Japanese design that Lockheed Martin bought the rights to.

Here's a little heads up for those of you building the Hasegawa F-104 with the air brakes open, the door does not hinge from the front, but slides rearward and out, note the two different configurations.

Some of my previous builds.

Hasegawa 1/48, Canuck Models decals, resin seat.

Hasegawa 1/48, Leading Edge decals, Alclad

Two old 1/72 models; one from 25 years ago showing how bad I was back then (the green one), and an early experiment in Bare Metal Foil.

1/48 Hasegawa, variegated camo, Leading Edge decals

TremblantApr04023_zps6ad741fc.jpg

1/48 Hasegawa, overall green, Belcher Bits decals. It's clear that the DACO set would have been good for this one!

1/32 Hasegawa, overall green, beside my late father's hero shot - he is my inspiration for every day of my life.

1/48 Hasegawa, Tiger scheme 1976, Belcher Bits decals.

Part 2 of 2, old builds. This is the same as the previous one, only taken with an authentic 439 Squadron name tag my father had made for me.

P1080156_zps4578b445.jpg

1/48 Hasegawa, Kitchen foil, Leading Edge decals.

P1080770_zps8538f28f.jpg

1/72, from the Starfighters team Hasegawa boxing. I called these ones "bookends"; my Uncle flew CF-104s in the 60s and 70s, then in the early 80s he was the Base Commander in Baden, West Germany. The silver one he flew at the beginning of his career, and the variegated green one he flew as it was being replaced by the CF-18, when he was in charge of the base. I gave these to my Uncle for Christmas; he loves them.

P1160583_zps8241bd8e.jpg

1/32 Hasegawa, Leading Edge decals. This started out as a bare metal scheme, but I screwed it up so badly I painted it green.

P1160807_zps207c9712.jpg

1/32 Hasegawa, Canuck Models decals, resin seat and cockpit. This was the more or less successful bare metal Alclad scheme, for the Bare it All group build.

P1180061_zps3ee43fc0.jpg

Max is making sure it doesn't taxi away.

P1180062_zps774fe9e7.jpg

That about wraps it up. The 104 is my favourite aircraft (next to the CF-18), and I could build dozens of them.
