The cockpit has been modified, chin pod, gun muzzle, antennae, and nose tube has been scratched to look like the No3. Hi, Colours used, Top - H-315 Bottom - H316 Orange bands - H-14 Red pin stripes nose/rear- H-86 Radome - H-318 Nose Tip - Alclad Magnesium Leading Edges - Alclad Steel Post weathered by lightening the colours and spraying various panels, also heavily thinned Tamiya Smoke to add shadow detail. Wash - Flory Models Dark Dirt and Indian Ink (Tail Hook assembly) About half the panel lines were filled with super glue, sanded then rescribed. Cheers John Quote Link to post Share on other sites

It is very rare to see a prototype being modelled, and those "extra" insignias on the wings add a lot to its uniqueness. Incredible accuracy and workmanship. Even made the trip from Canada to go see 157982 (#3) at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. I started a build of this particular bird in 1/32, and had planned to depict her in flight as well, while conducting asymmetrical wing sweep tests as seen here: Wing Sweep Very well done! The flaperons as used on the F/A-18 are so called because they operate as both a flap and an aileron. You could say the Tomcat's are spoilerons but they are referred just as spoilers.
