2005 Chevy Impala Police Car Help

Recommended Posts

All,

I was just shopping online at one of my favorite online hobby shops and I ran across a couple of 1/25th scale 2005 Chevy Impala Police Cars. The one from Revell is specifically labeled as a SNAP kit and I have one of these. The other is a Revell of Germany kit and it appears to be a glue kit. My question: Is the Revell of Germany a "full" kit with a full engine and chassis or is it just another boxing of the curbside SNAP kit from Revell? I don't mind paying twice the price of the SNAP kit for a fully detailed kit but I will be madder than a wet hen if I pay twice the price for the same curbside SNAP kit. At this online shop, I can buy two of the Revell SNAP kits for less than one of the Revell of Germany. Any information on these two kits is welcome. Thanks!

Best Regards,

Ken Bailey

All,

Since it has been over a month since I posted this question with no response after 122 views, I have done a little research and now can answer my own question here. The Revell 2005 Chevy Impala Police Car (Kit #85-1928) and the Revell of Germany (Kit #07068) are exactly the same kit. I found an online website that has PDF files of the instructions for both kits. Other than more detailed painting instructions in the Revell of Germany and what appears to be a better decal sheet, the parts layout for both kits are identical. The Revell kit is specified as a SNAP kit and that designation is not on or in the Revell of Germany kit but due to the fact that the parts are the same, they should go together the same. I have printed off the instructions for the Revell-Germany kit to be used on all of my just regular Revell kits, basically just for the paint instructions. As I mostly use aftermarket decals on my police car builds anyway, I am not going to worry about the differences in the decal. I may contact Revell-Germany and see if I can purchase one of the decal sheets just to see what other "goodies" are on that sheet, since the regular Revell kit decal is sparse. I have checked several online hobby shops and the Revel-Germany kit is about twice the price of the regular Revell kit. So if you want basically the same kit then go with the Revell kit and save enough money to buy a good set of aftermarket decals or buy another kit.

Best Regards,
