rustywelder
I figured this would make a fun thread, and get a chance to see what every one around the world are knocking back wile having some bench time. Who knows you might find your self searching for something new the next time you go shopping for an adult beverage. To kick things off... I've been quite fond Union craft brew's Duck pin pale ale from a new local brewery in the B'more area. It has nice hoppy bite, without drop kicking you in the face the way some of the new pale ales coming out lately do. And if I'm in the mood to sip something with a little more horsepower. Ron diplimatico reserva exclusiva aged Venezuelan rum. Don't let the name fool you though it really is not pricey. Edited September 21, 2014 by rustywelder
Exhausted
I don't drink much anymore, but tonight it's Manischewitz. My drinking standards fell.... hard. In terms of class I feel this is in between Old English and church wine. Edited September 21, 2014 by Exhausted
WymanV
My alcohol days are long behind me. I've been trying sodas from some of the smaller regional makers. The last one was Teddy's Root Beer, and it was pretty darned good. Ken
ChippyWho
Still partial to a good old Bourbon or the (very) occasional single malt Scotch -found a really nice Islay SM a while ago, one of our supermarket chains' own brand. These are usually a bit 'damp' for my liking, like a rainy afternoon in Stornoway, but the better ones are crisp without sacrificing depth. A couple of those with a fat smoked salmon sandwich on rye bread...heaven! Mostly though, alcohol doesn't figure large in my diet -at my age, a nice cup of tea is something to really look forward to! Since the '80s I really missed Mountain Dew (the original, not the lurid green 'energy' gloop that has superseded it in the UK). It was my absolute favourite accompaniment to a hot dog, then it disappeared from our shops overnight. BUT...last week I bought some cans of San Pellegrino Limonata flavoured sparkling water, and it's damn near as good! Also in Arancia Rosso for something a bit different. Cheers! 11bee
I'm a semi-beer snob, like trying different beers. Currently I'm drinking Founders' All-Day IPA. It's a "session" IPA which means you can actually drink a few of them without getting juiced. My pet peeve is that many craft beer outfits seem to equate alcohol content with quality, so they are in a race to come up with 8,9 and 10% (or greater) beers. Too strong for me, especially if I'm out of the house. The Founders' beer has a great taste, hoppy but still crisp. Definitely a good summer beer. As we get into the cold weather, I gravitate towards darker stuff. My hometown brewery (Mayflower Brewing) has a great oatmeal stout. Should be out in a few months. Jennings
This has become my new favorite recently. A really refreshing, slightly hoppy pale ale made in Asheville, NC by Highland Brewing.
Exhausted
Slightly hoppy is good but I wonder how you make an IPA that is only slightly hoppy.

John Tapsell
More of a wine drinker myself and only tend to drink with meals (quality Aussie reds and New Zealand whites generally). However, when I'm out and about, I do have a preference for Lancaster Bomber if I can get it. Regards, John

ya-gabor
Not much of a drinker and I usually say that any alcoholic drink has a bigger danger of evaporating than of me drinking it fast. So a bottle of good old single malt Scotch Whisky is what I have usually open, but it takes about a year or year and a half for me to finish off a 1 liter bottle. At the moment it is a Caol ila from 1993. The next destined for slow destruction (around late 2015) will be a Glenlivet, 12 years old. So I am not only a slow builder but also a slow drinker. :D :) :D :) :D Cheers! Best regards Gabor

rustywelder
My wifes friend from the PNW introduced me to it. That stuff is the devil, especially when you are friends with the bartender and he is feeding you free shots all night. Its not often I get rat arsed at the pub but........... I needed a taxi that night.

I once had a bottle of Laphroaig 12yr that took nearly 5 years to polish off.
Grey Ghost 531
Right now, a Blue. Before that, a Unitas Hop Nosh, and before that an Old Speckled Hen. I had to bust out a Hen because we had just gotten back from the "British Invasion". It's a car show put on by the ex-pat Brit owner of a hotel over in Stowe. This was the 24th year and the featured marques were MG, Singer and Lotus. We got there pretty late on the last day but it was still fun. In part because we rode over Smuggler's Notch in the Ural sidecar rig.
