Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red

Recommended Posts

If you're in the UK you may be aware of the 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' project at the Tower of London (https://poppies.hrp.org.uk/).

I was in London on Friday, in part because I wanted to visit this awesome public art project. To see the metal and ceramic poppies carpeting the moat at the Tower of London and the volunteers still placing box after box of them brought home the sheer scale of the losses from the First World War. They need to place 888,246 of them before 11th November, to represent every single British and Commonwealth loss during WWI.

If you have the opportunity to visit London before 11th November, make the effort to see it. The crowds were 2-3 deep around almost the entire circuit of the moat on Friday and that seems to be fairly normal every day of the week.

Regards,

John
