carrier dimensions wanted for 1/48 dio

I am also building an elevator-diorama. What I did was I looked up norfolk, virginia on google earth. You will find a Nimitz-class carrier there. You can take your measurements for the elevator from there. Not 100% accurate, but worked pretty good for me. But I must admit, it won´t help with the hangar door.

Good luck,

Daniel

Hey-

The elevators on CVN 69 are 85' along the deck edge, 70' along the opposite inboard edge and 52' deep. This is from a drawing which labels these dimensions as typical (typ) so they may not be exact.

I hope this is helpful.

Phil

Found this on the net...forumCVNdeckDimensionsLSO.gif

According to this drawing the dimensions of a typical Nimitz class elevator are 85' at the outboard edge, 70' at the inboard edge and 52' in width. In 1/48 that would be 21.25" outboard dimension, 17.5" inboard dimension, and 13" overall width.
