coairmech88
I was wondering if anyone could sum up the various x-wing kits available...things like manufacturer, scale, etc. Thanks.
Bigasshammm
Studio scale kits - resin. Very expensive. About 1/24 1/72 fine molds 1/72 Bandai snap 1/48 fine molds Various boxings of the MPC/AMT/ERTL kit. Think these are between 1/48 and 1/32. Maybe around 1/40? I think M/A/E did a smaller one as well probably snap together around 1/72 There's a revell snap kit 1/72 as well I believe.

nicholassagan
The Promodeller kit is also about 1/32-1/35 ish. The smaller MPC/AMT/Ertl kit has raised panel lines, a molded in pit + pilot and is about 1/80ish. The larger version is more like 1/42. Revell's larger snap is 1/57 and the Pocket snap is 1/87. At least that's what I've gathered over the years... Revell also has an upcoming 1/32-ish kit coming. Hasbro also has a 1/18 toy that can be worked pretty well into a modeling project. BEST injection kits are going to be your Fine Molds 1/48 and 1/72. Bandai comes in close but the debate still rages. FM has better panel detailing and overall shape (nose is a little longer) but Bandai has more detail. You can check out some builds over @ Keeper of the Force. Some argue that the FM kit is more like 1/74 and the Bandai kit is 1/79. http://www.keeperoftheforce.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1175 http://www.keeperoftheforce.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1141 http://www.keeperoftheforce.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1143 If you want to spend the big bucks on accuracy, the studio models are indeed close to 1/24 and are all resin goodness. There's a whole bunch of threads over @ The RPF. http://www.therpf.com/f10/one-stop-x-wing-thread-124738/ http://www.therpf.com/f10/x-wing-cast-original-parts-88172/ http://www.therpf.com/f13/star-wars-studio-scale-x-wing-fighter-229774/?highlight=Studio+Scale+X-Wing Edited December 29, 2014 by nicholassagan

nicholassagan
Haha thanks Kris. SW modeling is my main mode of operation so I try to keep up with what's out there. I'm by no means an expert...but those RPF guys tend that way...
