Sorry another MH-60G

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

After a several months of research, talking with members by email and waiting for stuff to arrive I am ready to start my WIP, even though I haven't got all my after market items or a very important research book I'm waiting for. I will apologize as it's another MH-60G. It will eventually be part of a diorama inspired by the National Geographic Channel's mini-series "Inside Combat Rescue". (I know, insert groan here. :rolleyes:/>/> )

I haven't decided which bird I'm going to do yet. It will be either of these here:

InsideCombatRescue036_zps372cd9ae.jpg

or

2259513_zps12fc5591.jpg

I like the moustache on the Pedro Choppers. ^_^/>/>

The diorama will be based on this scene:

InsideCombatRescue056_zps67f776d4.jpg

I will be using a MaxxPro instead of the MRAP in the shot.

Time for the obligatory pictures of the models I will be using.

Of course the Academy Pave Hawk

Some Eduard goodies

Werner Wings Stencils

Werner Wings Medivac Interior

Live Resin's Miniguns

IMG_5152_zps9cd2d2d0.jpg

I am still waiting for the Cobra Company's MH/HH-60G Update and detail set

Unfortunately after I ordered the Live Resin Miniguns Gino pointed out that the Pave Hawks from the timeframe I plan on modeling use the exterior mounted guns. I have heard Live Resin is working on a release of these as well as a door gunner to go with it. The other alternatives is scratch building the system or Cobra Company has an external mount.

There have been many in box reviews and WIPs showing the contents of the Academy MH-60G so I will not repeat them here.

I will post pictures of the MaxxPro and figures I will be using in the next post.

I will warn you in advance I am a bit of a workaholic so I am not going to be a speed demon on this build. I will be happy if I can get this done by the end of the year. I tend to be a bit ADHD in my building as well. I work on something for a while until I run into a snag and I sit it aside to mull over a solution. While I'm doing that I will work on a different project (or in this case part of this larger project.)

It begins:

IMG_5175_zps4d2645ea.jpg

No going back. I removed the doors, cut the holes for under the pilot and co-pilot seats and have started the ceiling structure.

Comments and criticism or better yet suggestions and advice are always welcome.

I hope to produce something even remotely close to the quality of some of the great builds I have seen here If I can I will be a very happy camper.

As mentioned above the MRAP I will be building.

The MaxxPro I will be using will be one of the following two kits. It will come down to which one I can make look the best not on if one kit is better than the other. I have never built a resin kit so I am looking forward to trying the Legend Productions MaxxPro.

I am waiting for the Voyager Model detail set which will hopefully show up any day.

Next Posting will be the figures.

To go with this I have several sets of figures

IMG_5150_zpsca5af6fe.jpg

The last two sets of figures above are CMK figures as shown here on the MRAP box

I will also be breaking in a new toy I just got over Christmas:

It should go nicely with my older Aztec.

This is the first time I have ever done a WIP so please let me know if I get carried away or if I missed something you want to see.

Happy New Year!

Chris

Chris:

Don't remember reading anything about a limit on the number of Hawks being built at the same time. Welcome to the party. I like the artwork on the nose of the "Pedro" birds as well. Have fun and post pics as you go. The guys who haunt this site have a boatload of useful knowledge and are great about sharing it with those of us who are looking to get smarter about Blackhawks. Looking forward to seeing you glue that collection of bits you've gathered-go big or go home!

Hi Marc,

I figured may as well go big for my first WIP.

Chris,

I'd be interested in your opinion of that new Paasche airbrush you got there. I've been using their H series for a whole lot of years and am looking for something for smaller details, weathering etc. on 1/48 aircraft.

Good luck with the build,

David

Looks like you are off to a good start. From the list of AM items, it looks like it will be well detailed. One of them you don't need though. The Werner's Wings MedEvac interior set is not needed, at least not the litter stacker parts. The USAF doesn't use the litter stacker as the HH-60G is not an Air Ambulance, but used for CSAR (Combat Search And Rescue).

2-your's

3-newf's

4-dadeo's

Talk about a Hawk's nest!!!

Tim

I am working on 2, both 48th. An UH-60L and a MH-60L DAP.

I just haven't bothered to take pics, yet. We need to start an informal GB!

Looks like it's gonna be a great build to follow too!

Looking forward to see those live resin figures I've been seeing unpainted!

Good luck and will be following from my silent corner! ;)

I have found several great examples of the Live Resin figures painted.

This is one of the better ones I have found:

http://www.probuiltmodel.com/figures/574-live-resin-us-army-modern-soldier-digital-camouflage-1-35-pro-built-model-set-2.html

(These guys have lots of great painted figures to try to emulate.)

Another here:

Hmmm here I anticipate a great big dio, will be very nice

Norbert

I think it will be fairly large. I will be taking some 'artistic license' with how close the Maxx Pro is to the Pave Hawk because I don't want the diorama to be 5 feet across.
