vince14
Such a shame we don't have Fox News here in the UK. As a white Atheist, I wish I'd seen before foolishly venturing into the ISIS Terrorist Stronghold that is Birmingham City Centre today. I'm certainly lucky to escape with my life! Birmingham: Twinned with Raqqa, apparently. :rolleyes:/> Oh, and Steve Emerson - don't give up the day job, whatever that is. Vince
fulcrum1
Always had a problem with journalist who are experts and make wild claims about certain areas....yet they've never been there.
ChernayaAkula
Fox News "reporting" (term used in the loosest sense possible) on another country and totally dropping the ball? Why am I not surprised? Oh, maybe because they once, in all honesty, claimed that solar energy is doing great for Germany simply because Germany gets so much more sun than the US does. Obviously, they don't get out much.
toadwbg
Before we get too much of a Fox news hate party going on here, do yourself a favor and don't watch ANY Major American network news channel. CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, PMSNBC.... I stopped watching years ago and my sanity is better for it. All Junk. Edited January 12, 2015 by toadwbg

ikar
CNN used to be a decent station when it first came on with early cable TV. When I got back to the states in the later 1980s, it was going through the changes to make it into what it is now, a socialist/progressive propaganda station.

CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, PMSNBC.... I stopped watching years ago and my sanity is better for it. All Junk. Oh I agree, it just so happens that in this case it was Fox spouting nonsense. The worrying aspect is that there will be some in the US who take it as gospel, when in reality it's akin to saying that 83% of the population of Detroit are actually banned from living in Detroit, because the minority White/Hispanic residents have made it a 'No-Go City' for non-Blacks... I remember the days, before 24 hour rolling coverage, when the news was about, well, the news, as opposed to today's offering which seems to consist mainly of speculation and whatever particular political agenda the station's owners wish to force on their viewers. Yeah, these days they're just filling time and shooting the breeze with a tone of authority in their voices. They justify their continued existence by coming up with mindless "magazine" type programs to fill the gaps, repackage what they've already said ad nauseum for the past 24 hours. Worse yet, some of their "reporters" have achieved a celebrity status and are promoted more than the stories they cover. I cringe when I hear Christiane Amanpour's name or hear her voice. She's a propagandist, NOT a reporter....but that's another post altogether.

TaiidanTomcat
I'm just waiting for the day where the Media hits rock bottom and has to do a massive self examination about whats its purpose and mission truly is. Could be waiting forever though. The purpose of the news is to sell advertising, its competing in an entertainment market for a targeted audience, its not different than many other shows on TV in that regard, and once you figure that out the more obvious the whole scam is. Might as well be this for all the "reality" involved: Its a business, no one wants to be woodward and Bernstein, they want to google a few things write them out, get it on the air now, and fact check it later, if it happens to be wrong there are 23 more hours of content to drown it out, and be home at a decent hour. its a very 9-5 to job. 60 minutes has this down to a science where "hard hitting" puff pieces and teary celebrity interviews are then ended with old man rants. say what you will, they know their audience and their timing is impeccable. 60 minutes is infomercials for CBS products, under the guise of journalism. BRB interviewing a football player after an NFL game stay tuned BRB reporting on crumbling infrastructure AFTER the mid term elections when one of the core promises of the incumbents was fixing infrastructure. Timing is everything BRB Lebron James interview, BRB Tiger Woods...

Fly-n-hi, you're in love with Jesus, guns and Monster Trucks. We get it. Thank you. Vince Easy there, big fella!!! I never defended Fox News. Would you care to quote me where I did? I can't even remember the last time I watched Fox News. You just jumped to a major (and incorrect) conclusion. Heck, I'm a registered Independent.Well, since you can't quote me I await your apology. And you can apologize for the childish "Redneck" accusation. I got a chuckle out of that as I sat here typing from my house in Scottsdale, AZ. The only names I called you were "Liberal" and "Left Winger." Are you not? If not then I apologize. But I'll bet you are. I know for sure that this thread started as an attack on Fox News. I call people out on that kind of stuff. Now if you had said something like "Fox News, CNN, MSNBC all report the most ridiculous stories" then you might have had some credibility. But you didn't. You could have singled out the story or the reporter, even. But you didn't. You singled out Fox News. Why? To make a snide insinuation that Fox News is some kind of slanted network. Just admit it. We already know its true. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that. What's really ridiculous is that you get defensive over a divisive thread that you started. You created this thread knowing full well that an argument would probably follow. The funny part is that your response to me was the knee jerk reactionary response. Edit: Now I see that you did respond to Toad's post but that doesn't really change anything. You had no choice. He was being a voice of reason. TXCajun
For a thread that is clearly labeled "General Discussion - NO POLITICS" This certainly degraded quickly. Folks, it's pretty clear that with an audience of modelers spread across the entire globe, it's a given that we are going to have, at times, widely divergent opinions on topics of religion and politics, not to mention other "hot" topics. Heck, we can't even agree on the proper algorithms to be used when counting rivets (attempt at humor). As someone who has actually worked in the media (both in the military and civilian sector), I can tell you that there isn't a media source on this planet that is 100% objective in its' reporting. I've watched editors and producers, depending on their PERSONAL political beliefs chose to run or not run stores from AP, UPI, and Reuters. This rampant bias has been enforced by journalism schools that think journalism means that you inject your own positions and policies into the "news" and has infected all quarters. In short...it's all CRAP, which is why I chose to ditch my training, education, and experience, and ply my wares elsewhere. A wise consumer of all things will get their news from multiple sources, perform due diligence, and form their own opinions. Now can we get back to modeling?
