F-16C BLK50, TuAF, NTM 2007

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, now I go on board with a Viper having that nice colorful red tail. Thanks to Model Alliance printing the decal sheet "Arctic Tigers part 2" MA-48164 that makes it possible to build that aircraft.

Taking the good F-16C BLK50 kit from Tamiya that sits in my shelf already for a few years i think it is a good basis for that model.

Already found a few pics of the origin bird and I hope to master the weathered look giving by mediterenean sun.

MA suggests to use red FS 31350 "insignia (?) red" for the rudder and the tanks. But when I compare my Gunze red H 13 or Tamiya XF7 to the decals, it is way too dark! So I met with a fellow modeller to make red paint chips of all paints we have to work out a good match to the kit decals. Our result: Xtracolor X 14 "red arrows red" comes closest. Just made it more "orange" (light) and added a few drops of Humbrol gloss yellow.

So this time I will start with the red parts because that is teasing me the most!

Due to winter and modeller friendly work requirements, here is the red zone so far. I already started to brushpaint the black "feathers" with HU gloss black because the MA decals for the tanks are too SHORT! I did notice after looking at a pic. Next time - or better - next time one of you guys will be model that aircraft, better cut the decal in two pieces and fust fill the upper middle part with black paint...but here, too late!

These sides already done with black correction.

Slow progress because a flue keeps me from long hours on the workbench...

The office is started, painted with Gunze H 308 (FS36375) and Tamiya Nato black. Also the intake trunk, carefuly glued with liquid glue and sanded. For that I made a half-round sanding stick out of sprue, foam rubber and sandpaper 600.

The white inside I sprayed with Tamiya white primer for checking first. But it looks that good so leave it like it is!

Some parts of the shull24 nozzle already painted, too. That is really a good resin AM!

I hope he will open his shop soon and offer his amazing products to us again!

a bit progress during the last weeks. Nothing crazy, only usually modelling job...glueing, sanding, rescribing, correcting, painting...

But due to demands of real life (it is my working seasion now) I am quite busy in the job and so the modelling slowed down to almost zero. I m afraid I will not make it to finish until end of the GB.
