ebay claim question

Recommended Posts

Wow, that's crazy that it add's that much just to get tracking on an envelope. I've used USPS to ship several sheets within the US, and it generally costs like 75 cents to add tracking.

Yes it is crazy, all that is added is a sticker with a bar-code. Considering it is included on all packages I ship with a Venture 1 Business account, I don't know why it isn't extended to envelopes.

If I wanted tracking it would actually be cheaper for me to put decals into a small box and ship them for $5.60 compared to $3.00 (shipping) plus $14.00 (tracking) for an envelope ($17.00 total). Until this discussion that option didn't dawn on me.

Hi Gary,

I've never seen one of your listings, but do you have a sort of "disclaimer section" at the bottom of your listing? In it you can tell buyers that since you live in Canada shipments to the US often take two weeks and if buyers are concerned about anything, to please contact you first, blah, blah, blah. This might stop some idiots from sending negative feedback, but like Jennings said, many people are just plain stupid.

I've had a few run-ins with sellers as a buyer and I ALWAYS try to contact them and resolve my issues before I complain. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, but I've always got my money back if the seller turns out to be equally stupid.

Resolved, a simple phone call to eBay fixed it all.

After I saw he was issued a refund I contacted the buyer one last time. This time I notified him that I was opening a false claim report on him and I called him a thief for doing so.

He finally replied! He confirmed he received the kit and called me a bunch of nasty things as well as being stupid. He stated that 7 days after he opened the claim he received the kit and I was lucky to get positive feedback. He also told me he should get on a plane and fly up here to kick my arse.

I replied that he was now likely going to get banned from eBay as he just confirmed he received the item which confirmed that he filed a false claim.

He then sent me a second message, further stating I was stupid because he didn't even open a claim, he only sent me a status request. He said it was all of eBays fault for issuing a refund. He finished with another profanity laced rant.

I sent him back a reply saying he give's humans a bad name, that their are likely donkey's smarter than he is.

I gave eBay permission to access these private messages. They could see nothing was altered in anyway and reversed the refund back to me. They apologized for his threats/profanity laced tirade and notified me that he will be banned from eBay for a year. He can't open another account under the same given name.

So I guess this just goes to show that eBay does work for the seller too. They were kind and polite and very helpful (once I spoke with a person).

I'm glad it worked out well. That guy sounds like a real piece of work, and one that's not too bright.

Sadly I know what he does for a living. He is an aviation photographer that has a few calenders on the market.

He also frequents Flag excercises. At one time I volunteered my time when I was in the military to escort photographers around the flight line during Maple Flag in Canada. I assisted the Public Affair Officer during these excercises. I may have even escorted this person. I could put in a phone call and put his name on a no access list. Hmmmmm.......

Fame (relatively speaking) doesn't make you smart. In his case it appears to have had the opposite effect... I'm always happy to let people know when someone has acted like an idiot like that.

Same here, my experience with Ebay on the phone has been always very good, I think they know they have some 'challenging' users and they have always been helpful and understanding, Glad this all worked out for you !

They actually said I should have phoned sooner and they suggested the phone option was better than the online solutions they offered. It almost made it sound like it was automated.

I have a feeling the escalation I requested was actually confused that I was the seller and not the buyer, it may be all automated and didn't differentiate between the two of us.

i am suing both you and ebay for FRAUD and SLANDER. My attorneys will be in touch. PROFANITY EDITED

The guy is sounding more and more like he's a few sandwiches shy of a picnic. Definitely a head case. If it were me in your shoes I would block him from being able to make further contact with you and forget about him. He sounds like a person who will just continually bother you and verbally assault you with profanity. Nobody needs that.

Good luck!

Now this guy won't stop sending me messages, I don't reply, here is his latest message to me:

LOL! I like how he uses "attorneys" in the plural form, like he has an army of them just waiting to take down his adversaries. Congrat's Gary, you got under his skin big time. I bet this dope typed that message in his housecoat from his parent's basement.

I blocked him as a bidder. But he can still contact me for 60 days after the sale. I contacted ebay by phone and again gave them permission to look at the threatening messages he is sending me. Those messages violate ebay user policy, I think he has been suspended. They wold not tell me what they were doing with him.

All over a $50 kit he confirmed he received in roughly 7 days from when I shipped.

To be honest, I don't know why he is going nuts over this. I truly do think he may be a little challenged. He thinks he only sent me a message and that he didn't open a claim.

You should see his replies, they are entertaining and have weak grammar.

I didn't try to get under his skin, but I had enough and in one message I did tell him I think their are more intelligent donkey's out there than him.

You can do better than that Gary. Tell him you've seen his aviation calendars and you could take better pics with a throw away camera. You can tell a photographer he's stupid all day long and he might not care, but tell a photographer he takes $&@tty pics and he'll go nuts!

might be a day late and a dollar short on this, but it is entirely possible that he did in fact not open a claim against you. i have on several occasions contacted a seller about an item after paying for whatever reason, usually because they listed something right after the auction was paid for(doesn't matter), but ebay will automatically open a claim depending on what manner of question that you ask. so, it is possible that he does not know anything about the claim because he did not open it.

ebay has gone to an automated system, and some contact seller or buyer options do seem to automatically open a claim. it was explained to me that some sellers end up keeping your money and offer free excuses instead of product, then when the time to open a claim has expired the buyer is out of luck.

it has happened to me a couple times, so i do try and watch how i contact the seller.

Well it semss a much more involved process to open the claim.

He never sent me any messages. I sent him two and he didn't reply.

It wasn't until I sent a message saying I was filing a false claim report on him did he reply. And from that point on all his messages were threats and full of profanity. nothing can substantiate those actions.

His second last message, may support what you have to say that he didn't know he was opening a claim. I can accept that if it is true. But he started that message telling me how stupid I was and finished it by calling me an arsehole.

What I have learnt from this is eBay is fair and they do listen. As well, be careful what you say in the message system. They can see it,
