AVGBob
I'm still unsure of what I should build. I have an F-4E, F-104C, and a F-105G, all in 1/32, or M48A3 Mod.B in 1/35. I'm leaning toward the Patton, just because I'm a rebel and want to build a tank on an aircraft forum group build.
AVGBob
OK. This is what I'm goin' with. Edited August 29, 2015 by AVGBob
Neo
Did f-4j's fly in Vietnam?
Pete
Certainly. F-4J's started to arrive in frontline squadrons in 1967, so plenty of units deployed with them to Vietnam.

tosouthern66
OK, For those of you that are lucky enough to be living where it is already the August 31 you can start building at midnight your time. For the rest of us poor slobs that are a day behind we have to wait. lol

Drifterdon
OK. This is what I'm goin' with. :chain-gun:/> Great idea for this GB Bob. Someone needs to do an M-113 APC to go along with your Patton. Can't wait to follow along. Any ideas what markings you are planning to use?
ikar
I could do a 113, but you'd never see it alongside a tank.
Drifterdon
Love those SP 113 tracks ikar! I'm all for seeing a USAF 113 if you got one. I have a M-41 that I could do up as an ARVN piece but I think it's too far along in the build to be allowed in this GB.
gtb -red
How about a waterline 1/350 1970 CVA-64.
Drifterdon
How about a waterline 1/350 1970 CVA-64. I think a model of the Connie would be perfect. Gotta have a Navy entry for this GB! Down to a matter of hours in North America.... :woot.gif:/>/> Edited August 31, 2015 by Drifterdon

Any ideas what markings you are planning to use? I'm thinking the box art markings. I found a pic on the internet of two guys sitting in front of that unit resting. Plus I'm a sucker for anything with teeth on the front...
airmechaja
I think I'll jump in with one of these: image url upload A-37 Dragonfly.........It'll be a first for me as I've never built one. Dean
tosouthern66
We are off and running in some parts of the world the rest of us have to wait a little longer. Can't wait to see what we all build! Good luck all.
Litvyak
Hopefully we'll get our subforum soon so everyone can start posting build threads!

AVGBob
ikar, got pics of any patton's "in country"?
ikar
Sorry, they never got anywhere near us. We did have some local armor that would be part of a convoy every day to our P.O.L. area but I was always somewhere else or off duty at the time. It seems that every vehicle towed a trailer of some kind that they would put gas into. Then one day someone asked the question, "What does a tank need with gasoline?" Shortly after that the convoy was followed discreetly and they discovered that the gas was being sold to a couple civilian gas stations. My primary build would be a conversion into one of the M706s that I drove, but a 113 shouldn't be hard. Just leave off all the fording gear, mount a M-60 in the turret, and that's about it. I might also put in a Thai A.F. fighter or other aircraft too, something you don't usually see. Then all I have to do is hope that I can post the pictures, I need to check on that.
