CD48087 - F7F Tigercat

Recommended Posts

CD48087 will be a 1/48 sheet featuring markings for F7F-3 and F7F-3N Tigercats. Coming in June-ish. I don't know anything about a new 1/48 Tigercat kit, but I think a 1/32 kit is long overdue and would like to be prepared just in case.

Are you thinking of doing combat birds, or restored warbirds? If you are going the warbird route, you should consider doing Bad Kitty from the Historic Flight Foundation in Everett, WA. A really great looking bird with cool nose art. I can get you better ref shots of it too.

Well, whatever is going on with whichever manufacturer, I at least have an AMT 1/48 F7F-3 that could use some well-researched markings, so I'll take one.

Who knows, perhaps I'll be able to use it on something newer

That's REALLY good news!! I have an F7F-3 and -3N in the stash for ages, just because I don't have decent decals for them.

Cheers,

Erik.

No profiles yet, but I decided to use the artwork to release two separate sheets. The first one will have a Cal-Nat firebomber, an F7F2-D drone controller, and two Korean War F7F3-N nightfighters with nicknames (WF/6 "Nuckle Head" and WF/24 "Linda"). Just sent to the printers last week, will be part of the July batch.

Sign me up! Good to see "Linda" and a Fire Bomber on this sheet. I recently got to see some Tigercats in person so I'm ready for this one.

Nice stuff Kursad. Hmm now I have to figure out how to do the drone controller with the second cockpit. Is there a conversion out there? I wonder if Lone Star has something?

The second canopy in the drone controllers were apparently taken from F8F Bearcats,  so the instructions will suggest the use of a Squadron F8 Bearcat vacuform canopy.
