Hobby Craft 1/48 Hawker Sea Fury

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Here is my Hawker Sea Fury Mk. 60 “Baghdad Fury” which I built a few years ago.

I performed the following enhancments to the kit:

Cockpit Area

- Cooper Details resin cockpit installed to replace kit parts

- added drop tank jettison and selection levers

Fuselage

- Spinner replaced with Cooper Details part

- Squadron vacuform windscreen and sliding canopy to replace kit canopy

- handholds and footsteps added

- rear of fuselage and bottom of rudder modified to represent a de-navalised variant

- whip antenna made from surgical wire

Wings

- gun barrels added

- navigation lights replaced with clear sprue

- red, green and amber recognition lights made from MV Products lenses

- clear covers for recognition lights added

- shell ejection ports added

- missing bulges added to wings behind undercarriage

- kit wheel well and landing gear replaced with Cooper Details parts

- inner detail and actuating arms added to inboard gear doors

- main undercarriage doors corrected

- pitot tube replaced with hypodermic needles

- the entire wing was block sanded to reduce the oversize panel lines and then rescribed to make them more defined

Paint and Decals

- airframe painted with Xtracolor X2 Dark Earth BS450, X9 Middle Stone and X26 Azure Blue

- all markings are from Aero Master 48-712 Sea Fury Part III

- aircraft weathered with chalk pastels

A most impressive build, with exceptional paint and decaling of an unusual subject. While I appreciate all the extra details that are added to the a model, it's the overall look and feel that is most important to me. No one area should over shadow the rest of the build. With your build, all the various elements work very well together, so the viewer focus changes has he views different areas of the model.

Thanks Joel

This has to be the nicest compliment about my work I have ever received.
